I'm using the stock driven with the snowmobile driver. I'm probably going to grind the driven cam down to widen it out. I made some straight pipe exhaust for It tonight lol it's going to melt the wax in my ears driving it. Gotta figure out how to get the roll cage to fit again the sled motor is way wider so I'm going to have to cut and widen the bottom couple feet of the cage bars be hind the seat lol.

Was it a working sled? I would have kept it and looked for another doner sled.

Looking good though

It was a working sled like a 97 Yamaha ovation 340 but I only paid 35 bucks for it cause the guy didn't know what was wrong. Turned out to be the coil wasn't grounded lol.

This is a 2 stroke motor correct ? Your gonna run just a straight pipe ?

If I did would it hurt anything. I mean besides my ears?

With 2 stokes it's best expansion chamber ,but if you don't have one you can run a different exhaust but I don't recommend straight piped it needs a little backpresserure if you don't run a expansion chamber, like on my go Kart with snowmobile engine im building with a rotax 399cc 24hp ,in my videos you can see it runs with open exhaust ports and runs fine without it but would better with the exhaust I'm building, a year pipe with a rlv muffler clamped on the end of the pipe to quite it down and give it back pressure, it's not an expansion chamber but it will be fine. As long as you have a little backpresserure.

So got alot done today got the cage back on only had to cut it in one spot made a bracket to go around the engine. Mounted my fuel pump. Also figured out where I want my gas tank. Haven't figured out how to mount it yet, but it should be easy. Also got to figure out how to mount my oil tank. I couldn't use the sled tank cause its huge so I'm using a donor tank of a older tank but it has one less hose than the Yamaha tank. Does that matter the other sled was pulse driven also. Can some one hall me find a fuel and oil hose diagram for a 90s Yamaha ovation 340 thanks guys

Do not run a 2 stroke without some sort of expansion chamber. it won't ever run right. Post a pic of the pipe that was on it. I might be able to help you fix it so you can use it. And what state or country are you in ?

Some of the Yamaha 340's were a 2 in 1 type exhaust with a canister.

It depends, because my snowmobile engine never came with a expansion chamber just a can type muffler, so it will be fine ,and if you don't run an expansion chamber than you have to tune it properly, and the muffler you use needs to have a little backpresserure

Hmm, mine also came with just a can style muffler, and seems to run perfectly fine.

Though I was thinking about usig a motorcycle muffler down the road.

Yeah a friend had a snowmobile with a two stroke and it would never rev out. He added a chamber from a shifter kart and it ran fine after.

But yeah i agree tuning is always the key in anything.
