    Homelite will not start

The original engine is what I plan to modify not the new one. Besides I paid $100 for the new engine, not too concerned about any warranty.

    Homelite will not start

Finally found some free time and got the new engine mounted and running. THe kids love it, and so do I. But, it is time for more power. Someone else has started another thread on that very topic about the same engine as what I plan to use so, I will just follow along. Any advice is greatly...

    6.5hp homelite

I believe you have the same cart as I have. If so then yes it is a clone, as that is what I have discovered. I too am new to this "hobby?" And now need advice for more power.

    Homelite will not start

THats exactly what I was told, remove the spacers. I will still only have maybe 1/4" of room for the outer portion of the clutch hub. I need to find a diagram of this thing with names to make sure I am calling these parts what everyone knows them as.

    Homelite will not start

But, it has 1/4" spacers between the engine and the plate. I was told that should not be.

    Homelite will not start

These two spacer go on the crankshaft and then the inner hub, which leaves NO room for the center of the outer hub. There are also spacers between the torque converter plate and the engine that are the same thickness as the shorter spacer. I was told yesterday the plate is supposed to bolt...

    Homelite will not start

I stopped at the kart shop yesterday and found out that instead of doing minor mods to the torque converter plate, charley the chinaman used 1/4" spacers. After a minor modification I have gained approx. 1/4", and that's all the more contact area the hub has. I would like the center hub to go on...

    Homelite will not start

Unfortunately I don't think that's the solution. Unless I am not understanding it's placement. When I install the two spacers and then the inner hub I am left with no room to install the outer hub. Forgive my lack of knowledge of exactly what all of these parts are and what their functions are.

    Homelite will not start

I actually think they consider it a torque converter. The belt attaches between the two puppies and then there is a chain that drives the rear axle. Hopefully that makes sense.

BTW, thanks for the torque specs.

    Homelite will not start

The shaft of the homelite engine measures right at 3 1/2". And the predator engines shaft is 1" shorter. No room for the clutch hub to slide on.

    Homelite will not start

Is it safe to assume that the Honda gaskets also fit this thing?

Thanks for the help. I am sure I will be back with more questions.

    Homelite will not start

Is there someplace on line that has the torque specs for this engine?

    Homelite will not start

Never thought about the key being sheared. I will try to pull the flywheel tomorrow. I just wish there was some way to use the predator engine.

    Homelite will not start

I sprayed fuel in the carb throat a couple of times but, no joy. Not knowing about the compression release irritates me now. Seeing as I already have it torn apart might as well put new rings and gaskets in it. Any other suggestions? Besides wait for answers.

    Homelite will not start

I have a homelite 196cc engine in an "off road" cart that will start. Approximately 2 years ago it decided it would not run without the choke being applied. Due to getting a house ready to sell and building a new one the cart had to sit in storage for probably 18 months. Fast forward to today...
