    Comet 30 vs Comet 40.

I have about a 15" tall tire, took the measurement to the center and doubled it. I also have a 10-tooth jackshaft sprocket. His tires have to be at least 20-24" tall. The choke question, it's a 1978 7HP Briggs with the updraft carb. I had to rig a spring from the choke lever to the air filter...

    Grinding Down a Shaft???

What I just did on my 7HP Briggs was let the engine idle in the cart, I took 36 grit sandpaper, cut it into 1" strips, and just sat there going back and forth on crank for about 45 minutes. Once I got past the case hardening, it flew. Went from .887 to .752. When I take readings along different...

Picked up a kart, need to shorten pedals.

What my buddy did was make a back pad for the seat, which pushed his son forward 6" then made 3" pedal extensions that bolt onto the factory pedals. That way, adults can drive it too with removing the pad, which just sits there, and unbolting 4 bolts. Should've kept some of that steel!!

    Comet 30 vs Comet 40.

I just finished installing a 7HP Briggs into my Manco Red Fox, which has a Comet 30 clutch and 6" 30 series driven pulley. My buddy has an 8HP Briggs in his Manco Dingo with a Comet 40 clutch with a 7 1/2" driven pulley. We were playing around yesterday since I was excited to see if I was...

What's a good engine that will very easily install into this kart?

When I went from the 5HP Tecumseh to a 7HP Briggs, I had to make a new motor mount and welded it onto the existing motor mount since it had the jackshaft sleeve already on it. Nothing some 1/4" plate wouldn't fix. Had to get a new belt since the center to center distance increased now. Plus, if...

    Tecumseh 6hp powersport question

On my 5HP Tecumseh with the carb bulb, I end up holding the throttle fully open when I pull cable. I pump the primer 5 times, hold open, and pull. After I pulled the carb apart, cleaned with carb cleaner, and forced compressed air through the jet, float needle orifice, etc. it fires up after 1-2...

Straight bore crank w/keyway for Briggs motor?

LOL Well I took the 2-piece carb out, separated the 2 halves, removed the main jet, emulsion tube, float and needle. Carb cleaned and blew compressed air through all orifices. Put it together, fresh fuel, and she fired right up. Just purred at idle, feels dang torquey on the ground. Though...

Straight bore crank w/keyway for Briggs motor?

No problem. Now, to make it run properly so I can shave the crank down and mill a keyway in.

Straight bore crank w/keyway for Briggs motor?

I picked up a relatively old Briggs 7HP 227CC motor yesterday for my Manco and was wondering if anyone makes a straight shaft crank with keyway to replace the tapered non-keyed crank on this motor. Or is shaving the crank down to 3/4 from 7/8 and getting a keyway milled in the only option...
