Want more power from my kart. Have a 5 hp briggs and strattion. want more power. Basically want an engine that will drop in with no extra parts other than wrenches and screwdrivers.

When I went from the 5HP Tecumseh to a 7HP Briggs, I had to make a new motor mount and welded it onto the existing motor mount since it had the jackshaft sleeve already on it. Nothing some 1/4" plate wouldn't fix. Had to get a new belt since the center to center distance increased now. Plus, if you're running a Comet 30, I'd stay under 7HP.

I imagine a Honda 6.5 will share the same mount, but that doesn't change the fact that you'll still have to make some alterations like chain length, throttle connection, etc.

Where can I find the honda 6.5 engine?

Is it easy to install the honda engine. How do I adjust chian length. Give or take length from the current setup?

You adjust chain length with a breaker tool, or connecting links/ half links. May karts also have slotted engine mounts to tighten/loosen the chain.

You could get a 6.5 or clone, but that would not be much more power. You could spend another $80 on the Honda or clone in mods, and you would have 9hp.
What clutch do you have currently?

reworking a motor mount can sometimes be as simple as drilling some new holes in the old mount plate. that doesnt seem like much to me, but then again i build things from junk :D

Look at the engine, the opposite side of the recoil starter. Take a picture.
You will probably either have a chain going straight to your axle from a cylinder like clutch, called a centrifugal clutch,
Or you may have a torque converter, with a belt and two pulleys, then a chain to the axle.

The honda 6.5 is $400 anything less expensive that will fit.

Honda 6.5 is a lot of money. are there engines that will mount on easily that are cheaper? BTW can someone tell me exactly where to get the engine so I can be sure it's the right one?

The "right" engine is a horizontal shaft 3/4" PTO industrial 4-stroke in the (typically) 4-6.5hp range. I very strongly urge you to take some time to make heavy use of the "search" feature on this forum. You will find enough engine info to choke a hard drive. This is nothing personal, but questions this basic can be very easily self-answered simply by hanging out here. Here- I'll drop a massive search hint on your foot- "clone".

Kart is underpowered.

My cart is really slow goes about 10 or 15. cant make it up the incline in my back yard. Plus my engine tends to stall sometimes. usually around corners. usually stalls in the same place every time.

First things first.

Chain size
Tooth count on clutch
Tooth count on axle sprocket
Clutch brand
Tire diameter
Axle type (live or dead)
Engine governed or not

Any other info you can supply.

And some more pics would be nice too so we can see what you are trying to explain to us.:wai:

methinks you could see a load of improvement with a few carb adjustments...from the way u descibe it sounds like your float level may be to low

I very much doubt it's the float level, but it's possible. More likely is a blockage around the main jet, and/or bad plug/other ignition issue, and/or bad clutch etc.
