    Stephen115's homemade kart

To make that pipe fit, try making a 1/8 to 1/4 wide cut next to the collector, then closing the gap and rewelding it closed. You may need to make a couple cuts and welds to get the angle change your looking for. I can't image that this would change anything on your performance levels, after...

    Stephen115's homemade kart

I bet that this cart can break a 100mph if you can get it out of 1st gear, and the engine is tuned up and running 7,000 rpm or higher (nothing for the 250R). Recent experience with my gear ratio determined that bigger rear sprocket is the way to get uphill and start rolling. Don't be surprised...

    Old Rupp Cart, new project

Found the gear ratio for the 3hp was not possible. Put on a 72 tooth. (notice the quick change saw cut) Moved to the mount down and forward to keep the same chain length. Road test proves way fast down hill, and need 30' turn it around.... too much traction for the dead end road we live on...

Well that wasn't so bad. Drilled and c'bored on the mill, left the holes a letter smaller, and tapped the holes using the bolts. Perfect.

    barn find cart

What fuel do you run???? From what I've heard about running alcohol you need to drill out the jets to get more fuel thru the carb and into the engine. So if you try to run it on gas it would be too rich, and you'll foul it out. Never heard about the issues of running alcohol in a gas engine...

Yerf Dog live axle bearing question

I may have assumed more than I know. It would appear that not all self aligning bearings have the lock collar design. This picture shows a good range of the variations. I've only seen the ones with the cam locks mentioned in the prior post. If you look real close in the drawing attached here...

Yerf Dog live axle bearing question

JEEP Removing the collar on a flange mounted bearing can be a chore if you don't know whats going on inside. The lock ring is rotated onto the snout of the bearing race to lock it on to the shaft. The set screws keep it from backing off. It is the cam locking action that is difficult to...

    Frame good or deathtrap?

Here's a 292 2stroke from a sled and some serious investment in time. Sure looks fast enough to be fun, don't think its a 70mph cart though. Notice the cage, nerf bars, and over kill bumpers. He must be planning on rolling it over or smacking something! Amazing craftsmanship in this build...

    Old Rupp Cart, new project

The tires went on with my two bare hands, no tools. Just set them on cardboard on the garage floor and pushed them on. No damage to the tires or rims.

Located some 3 bolt wheel hubs on ebay for a 1" axle. Well no luck on the bolt pattern matching up with the rims. Also just not wide enough, rims hit the drum brake. I had to machine the diameter of old hubs, made up some 1" thick spacers. I had them TIG welded on by a friend. Just...

    Worlds Worst Weld?

I'm guessing that IA was canceled in the area do to low enrollment, but the need for the basic skills still exist. Work with the young kid who did this, teach him right from wrong. (Even if he is in his 40's.)

Got the 3hp Briggs on there. The mount has the engine sitting way back behind the axle, maybe this is for chain adjustment...? Also got a free clutch, 15 tooth. Heres a mock up waiting on rear wheel hubs.

    Picked Up A TRX125 Fourtrax

These light weight machines can float across ponds and rediculously deep mud holes. NO RIDER. They will run with water up to the seat, and the spinning of the tires does provide enough wake to power them along. Crazy tough machines. If you take them swimming, drill a drain hole in the rear...

Well, what do think the top speed is on this speed machine? Does it have any pick up or are you pushing it to along then jumping in just to get moving?

    Old Rupp Cart, new project

Some new 5" rims. Used on ebay, but new to me. The fronts are wider than I can fit on the spindle. Had to turn the bearing seats in about 1/2" deeper. It was either this or mess with cutting and welding in new spindles. At least this way, the frame is still stock.

    Old Rupp Cart, new project

I picked up a set of 10x4.5-5 Bridgestone race tires. No way these are going to fit. They've got to back up on ebay. I've posted the old school rims if anyone's looking for some.
