As I said before, don't quote me on anything but having the right pipe should make the power band larger and less abrupt while delivering more power over the entire rpm range.

ehh, kind of.. top speed? probably not. There is a karting track right down the highway from me and I'd like to take it there but I don't know if they'll let me since its a custom chassis. plus i don't have front brakes. I really built this to race on a track since its not a kart you can ride around the neighborhood.

Pro Circuit pipe came in today

over all very clean and in good shape.
but the fitment is about an inch off...

It's hitting the seat. I guess my choices are to cut the pipe and shape it to fit without shorting the pipe.

Can you rotate the pipe? If not, when you cut the pipe and re-arrange it make sure you take it to a good welder and have it tig'd.

i've tried several variations, still deciding on what I need to do. why can't I just mig weld it?

Almost done with the exhaust, got it to work. the end will be bent back to the muffler.

Got an air filter to dress up the engine a bit and add a little performance.

A few more things to weld, then final welds on anything that needs it, wire wheel, then primer and paint.

Just a slight suggestion that air filter will probably be alright but just an opinion you might want to look into a 2 stage foam filter and keep it oiled well. I've dealt with 2-strokes for years racing motocross, there super particular on the finest things a small particle of dirt kicked up and sucked through can ruin the whole motor. Where as a 4-stroke probably just gum up in the valves and eventually cause them to stick enough one might hang and shove piston through. Again just an opinion you might want to look into atleast, could possibly save you hundreds of dollars. I used this site alot for all my motocross needs there usually unbeatable on prices and selection and you get some cool decals with every purchase haha www.motosport.com

To make that pipe fit, try making a 1/8 to 1/4 wide cut next to the collector, then closing the gap and rewelding it closed. You may need to make a couple cuts and welds to get the angle change your looking for. I can't image that this would change anything on your performance levels, after all it first needs to fit. You could also try an angled cut across the pipe, rotate the pipe 180 degrees and weld it back together, same effect as pinch welding noted earlier.... Do take time on your metal work here so that the pieces fit closely together before attempting to weld it all back together. You can change the size of the cut ends with the same pinch welding process to get the fit right before burning it all in. A die grinder will help you get rid of the Frankenstein appearances when you done. Just take your time. Good luck.

well, I've still got some wiring and the exhaust left to finish. sort out my clutch linkage and ultimately get front brakes. I've been looking on ebay daily and searching forums for these brakes. I do know i'm going to have to sell the front wheels I currently have since they won't work. My build will be on the back burner until I find front brakes.

Sorry, it's been awhile. I sold the motor, I got too deep into it. I decided to go with mini drag bikes.
