Advice needed on clutch drum play

I was reassembling the clutch and chain on my son's Arctic Cat ZR120 (mini snowmobile) last night and noticed that the only way I can get the clutch sprocket, tensioner sprocket and rear sprocket to line up, is to remove the snap ring at the end of the clutch. Otherwise, the clutch sprocket is...

    Engine will not start

Have a Honda gc160 that now won't start. Used to blow a bit of blue smoke after a cold start but now won't start at all. Removed plug and it looked like it was soaked in what seemed to be oil. Cleaned it up and pulled the rope a few times... Lots of spark. Has gas and I'd just cleaned the carb a...

    Centrifugal Clutch - Worn Bushing?

So the clutch that came on the kart I just picked up for the kids appears to be bad. While just rolling along, the clutch would frequently grab and make a horrible noise. The fellow just said to take it apart, clean it and lube it with some oil. So I did that and it was okay for a little while...

    New GoKart, Needs Steering Adjusted

Picked up a kart for my son this weekend. The spindles have no caster to the them (they're vertical) and the kart actually appears to have the ackerman reversed - the outside wheel appears to turn more tightly than the inside wheel. Control arms are forward of the spindles and point straight...

    What's this kart worth?

Local is trying to sell a home made kart.... what do you think - reasonable price or not? What would be fair? For comparison, I've got a line on a used single seat yard kart with a new 6.5hp (chinese) motor for $5-600. I'm sure this one isn't as pretty as the pic shows, considering he says...

    Considering Updating Sidepods, need numbers!

Considering Updating Sidepods, need measurements! So, was talking with another kart shop a couple days ago and they said there's no reason why I couldn't update my chassis to the current technical regs and go run it on the track for the cost of the rear bumper and body kit... the Righetti...

The Old Girl is Back Together!

My guess is, this old girl has been sitting in pieces for at least the last 10 years. I got her in trade for some large steel that I didn't need, so my son would have a kart to rip around on. Check out the before pics: A couple weeks of tearing into it and getting lots of good info from...

Tecumseh 8hp engine - okay for racing kart?

Fellow wants $50 for a used 8hp tecumseh from an old snowblower he's parting out. If it runs, would it be worth it? More important, would it okay for mounting up to an old racing kart (will never see the track again).

    Possible GX140 Problem

Had the engine in the parts washer this evening and noticed three little holes in the casting just below the exhaust port. They're about the size of the 'O' on your keyboard. What do you think would cause this and should I be concerned? Is my motor toast?

Next brake problem, Enginetics Master Cyl on't Pump

It moves very freely, but will not pump fluid. Filled it last night with the wrong fluid (didn't know any better at the time) but it appears to have drained out. Filled it tonight with the correct dot 5 but it just won't pump fluid. What do you suppose could be causing this?

How do I remove pistons from Enginetix calipers?

How do I remove pistons from Enginetics calipers? Have removed the calipers and now want to remove the pistons so I can clean everything up. They're stuck quite firmly in place. Don't want to pry where I shouldn't so I'm looking for a "correct" method of removing them.

Post your Kart Jackshaft Setup Pics

Hey folks, Looking to get ideas on how I could integrate a jackshaft onto an old racing kart. I'm interested in increasing the ground clearance (wheels and sprocket) and it's been suggested I employ one of these... problem is, I'm not sure how I can integrate it onto the kart. Being a track...

    Gx140 questions

I cleaned up the somewhat rusty shaft on the gx140 engine for my son's kart and observed a very rusty flywheel behind the red shroud. Took shroud off and yup, it's pretty rusty. Couple of Q's. 1 left hand or right hand thread to get the flywheel off? I'm thinking it's probably a standard...

    Honda GX140 Service Manual

Hi, Does anyone have a link to download (or who could PM/email me) a copy of the service manual for the GX140? I know where to grab the owner's manual but I figure I can keep it topped off with oil and clean the air filter once in a while without having to read it in a book. :) Thanks!

Want to increase ground clearance of racing kart

Hey folks, So, if I wanted to raise the ground clearance of a racing kart so my kids can muck about on the property and gravel laneway, I figure larger dia turf type tires will help gain an inch or two. Problem I have is getting the air intake/carb (honda gx140) to clear the rear wheel. Thought...

Picked up a kart, need to shorten pedals.

Picked up a kart, need to shorten pedals. (PICS ADDED) Hey all, first post! Traded some steel I had and didn't need for a kart that the fellow had and didn't need. I was planning to build my young lad a kart but this has given me a jumpstart. It's a racing kart of some description, came with...
