You can buy a motorized bicycle kit for about $100. I have one and plan on using it on a small electric quad. I e ridden them on bicycles and they’re not too bad, plus it has a clutch just like a real dirt bike.

I did. I machined the taper out of the piston until the rod fit in the recess. I did ream the wristpin bore .005” on the rod, but that was my only option.

This was the best fit that I could find for what I’m trying to do. I had to factor in wrist pin size, and compression height and needed them close enough that I could make them work.

Same thine we always do Natearooski, we’re going to cut until it does fit.

Now for the next issue. The rod don’t fit because the area for it is tapered inside the piston. What are we going to do now?

Spent a little quality time with the reamers and connecting rod tonight, and got a real nice slip fit. It only took me about 20 passes to get that .005” removed.

No huge developments, but the rod and side cover showed up today.

Back together? Yes. Correctly and functional? Maybe.

The carb gasket is most likely backwards blocking off the bowl vent. There a small hole in the gasket that has to be lined up.

Your guess is as good as mine. I’ll forever be that guy that wonders how he pulled that one off.

It’s easily doable for a beginner, and it eliminates the possibility of setting the lash with it on the compression release which is where most problem like this come from.

A lot of people prefer the non hemi. The hemi will go right on it, but the truth is that I think the stock wild at head is better.

I bought one and built it. The standard billet side cover will fit, it just doesn’t use the 7th bolt, a non hemi head will bolt right on with different bolts, clone (hemi) cams fit, as well as clone billet rod, and flywheel.

If you’re 100% sure the lash is right, I’d suggest pulling the side cove back off and checking the timing make on the cam and crank.

Recheck your lash, but rather than doing it at tdc, roll the intake lobe to full lift and check the exhaust, the vise versa. Did you remove the side cover?
