I'm sure they have a use somewhere, but when it comes to math past basic algebra, you have to show me the application before I can do the math. Like static stress calculations aren't a problem for me, but make me do anything past really basic trigonometry and my brain start pouring out my ears...

2 possibilities 1. Things are rattling loose, double nut or use loctite. 2. Your kingpins, wheel bearings, or steering linkage is severely worn and all that play is causing problems.

What kind of clutch is it? My bet is its jammed up or rusted shut, take it apart and make sure all is well.

You want to mount a band brake over the clutch drum, correct? There really isn't much fabrication in such a simple bracket, and no such thing is produced AFAIK, so you will have to build one.

I bet, properly designed, an extremely cheap, strong, and light kart could be built by using fiberglass over a PVC frame with some metal here and there(like the engine mount plate). You would basically end up with a fiberglass unibody. That's basically how boats are made, but with a wood frame...

Use a tape measure, set it for ~1/16" toe in. Lock the steering wheel centered somehow while doing this.

Picture of your driven wheel would help... Like I said. it will work running on the clutch drum, but like I said, snap a chain=no brakes.

Normally you have a drum on the driven wheel (or axle if 2wd) You can run the band on the clutch if you have too, but you are SOL in the event of chain failure. Pictures would help.

You need to either get bigger wheels or some real big wheel spacers so the caliper fits. Are they really 4 on 4 or actually 4x100mm? If 4x100mm you can just use civic brakes(or whatever 4x100 econobox rotors, calipers, and brackets are cheapest) and modify your spindles so the bracket fits. The...
