This is most likely your problem.. Linkages have moved on the governor.

When engines run lean they create more heat causing this. Or any other reason the exhaust got over heated. Or cheap chrome?

Not sure yet. My last shop had built in cabinets i made out of 5-8" plywood and sheet metal counter tops. Also had a bench 30"×60" made of wood and 4×4 legs with a tile vinyl tile counter top. (Like heavy duty grocery store tile), it was on wheels. As of yet I have no specific plans???
