Need help with 212cc predator engine

So here's my problem, latley my go kart seemed to not be going as fast as it used it to. So I got an app and tested it the avg. Was around 24mph but I had tested it a few months back and had hit 32mph. It seems like the motor hits a point where it just gives and gets bogged down. Like it doesn't want to push anymore and it will constantly stay there. That's my issue

e.g. how old is it?, what model?...

Pics and detailed info about the kart and what engine you're running is gonna pay off in spades, man.

I think the #35 is the pitch of the chain , you would want about a 12tooth clutch with a 60 or 70 tooth rear sprocket....

Clean the carb and plug.

Check the compression and blowby

. Was the engine new when you got that 32mph? Predators aren't broken in from the factory. If you bolted it on, filled it up, and started tearing around, the Piston rings may not have bedded properly.

Torque converter or centrifugal clutch?

Check the throttle linkage end to end. Something could be bent or binding. If you had the carb off, it's possible your governor arm wound up in a different hole (if still installed) or the limit screw could have vibrated in some.

Are your brakes dragging?

Are your tires fully inflated? Saggy drive tires = smaller effective diameter and more drag on the engine.

Was the 32mph on new luggy tires, and now they're worn down? It's hard to believe, but the diameter change from new to worn tires on the drive axle can make a significant difference.

I know you said it sounds like the engine isn't giving you all it's got, so start with the engine related stuff .

When I asked about your engine, Aldo, I meant if it's different from stock, off the shelf condition.

Barely a year old, I got it around spring of last year. I cleaned the carb already. It's stock for the most part after market straight exhaust pipe and a hole in the air filter box. Centrifugal clutch from go power sports. 10t

Not really a "gasser" (anymore anyways) but,

I would try a fresh clutch

I've had gas karts that acted like that when the clutches got warn down/out

I've also had problems when that little brass bushing wears out in the clutch & the tolerances change enough where it don't grab as good as it did.

If it's not the problem you still got a fresh clutch

I think you do need to see if your cable still moves the throttle butterfly through its whole range of motion as it should.

Could be as simple a thing as tightening up a cable.

Might be time to open up the cylinder head and do a de-carbonization.

Oh and as a general PSA: stay away from ethanol!

I know the cable moves well but I'll be changing it anyway
