    GEGcorp - Papa Bear buggy

Wheeling and dealing...or deals on wheels. I was shopping for a set of 15" torque thrust style rims and found a really good deal this set by Konig. The seller was getting out of Miata racing and wanted to get rid of all the tires in his yard by this weekend, so he made me a deal on the two...

2020 - GEGcorp "Dirt Bobber Trike"

Hey @Karts of Kaos I like the idea of collecting parts for a new trophy. I have been in touch with @RobertD about making a replacement trophy that could be disassembled to fit in a USPS flat rate box.(This can ship international as well) The flat rate box is 12"×12"×5.5". PM me if you have...

Experimental tubing bender from a 20HP engine

Got a roll of MIG wire today to re-weld the drive crank piece. First I used the grinder to extend the key slot on the crank snout so I could flip that piece over and slip the driver handle on. I had to make the hole in the starter gear one size bigger to fit the bolt for the squarely machined...

Experimental tubing bender from a 20HP engine

Thanks @Karts of Kaos I added the workpiece clamp and it seems to hold much better. Then I tried to bend a piece of square tubing and the weld holding the short piece of crankshaft to the starter drive gear snapped. I was expecting the bearing may pull loose or break first. When...

Race Kart Refurb | New Project!

Loud pipes save lives. Noticed you had to wave off the crowd at the start/finish line. Be careful out there in the 'hood with all those driveways, parked cars, neighbors , phone poles and mailboxes! It sounds really good all wound up though.

    Dingo's Offroad Mower Build

May I suggest making a tubing bender out of the old engine that slung the rod (?) Check the "using tools and welding" section for my DIY guide to an experimental bender made from old engine parts. Looks like the flywheel teeth are pretty substantial, so thats a plus. Also on YT, I saw a video...

Experimental tubing bender from a 20HP engine

I got a new rotor since the rusty one is used as a tarp weight to hold the cover on a mower. Just 12 bucks for the new rear rotor. I cut the top off of the Roto where the lugs go through, then tacked it onto the flywheel. I used (3) .75" nuts to center the rotor to a circular lip on the...

Just planning a new build, mindless exercise.

What about epoxy resin soaked wood with a coat of 'glass ? I made a hydrofoil like that and it was good for 200 mph. (oops 20 MPH, which on a hydrofoil - is really flying)

Hey, thank you all ! I really enjoy doing the build off and appreciate the votes and positive comments. I want to give a shout out to the builds that inspired me to do a little more than I had planned to do on this one. The whole trike theme was inspired by the @Smerft85 trike build. The...

What welder brand(s) are you using?

I picked up a Lincoln 225S 220v AC stick welder. Previously, I had not used stick... only MIG process. I tried to strike an arc using a rusty piece of pipe and a crusty, crumbly rod and it worked (amps turned up high as shown), ...so I paid $100 for the Lincoln and a complete tap and die set...

That moment when your fork falls off

Observation - Looks like it sheared on the threads and the threads are pretty beat up like it is not very smooth on the neck. (?) Was that end of the bolt at the top or the bottom ? That tells you where the stress is higher. That same bolt turned the other way may have endured the stress since...

Experimental tubing bender from a 20HP engine

I finished a couple of modifications to the flywheel and engine block. Just had to grind off the high spot where the ignition magnet mounted and take down a couple of bosses on two bolt holes on the case. I found a large bearing out of the Yamaha 350 axle carrier and used it for the drive...

Experimental tubing bender from a 20HP engine

Not using as a tool yet, but hopefully will make a demo video if it works as expected. I'm attempting to make a gear driven tubing bender out of a tired old engine. Here's where I got the idea: I found a couple of YT videos the other night where people have made gear driven metal benders...
