    hammerhead twister (re)build

progress stalled for a few days, what I thought was initially just the monday funk turned into the three most miserable hours of my life, at least in recent history.. got up off the couch to set the coffee machine at 930, caught a chill (in a 78 degree room), and spent the next hour...

    hammerhead twister (re)build

engine is mostly done. I say mostly, I haven't quite nailed down the torque converter stuff, but I also didn't spend much (if any) time on it. got the cam sensor and crank sensor brackets welded to the case, cleaned stuff up, and got it put back together. Wasn't too bad once I got over my own...

    hammerhead twister (re)build

mega-owned by that kick starter gear, jeez. also owned by a degree of impatience.. managed to crack the case around the oil seal behind the kick starter gear. Did finally get the thing off though, used the harbor freight $44 bearing seperator kit, and cut down the ear on one of the 2 inch...

    hammerhead twister (re)build

crank and a couple other goodies showed up today, finally came across that castle nut that people gripe about (For some reason when I was skimming build threads elsewhere, I got the idea that it was on the side with the cvt. oh well). a little aggravating but not the end of the world. careful...

it's not going to be carburated, hence a throttle body from a gsxr and not a carb ;) It may not work well, but if all the sh**y carb turbos can spool it up on an otherwise stock engine I think I like my odds.

    hammerhead twister (re)build

all stock currently. It's a tad large. If the setup works even remotely well, I'll go back in and bore and stroke it and run the big cam and big valve head. on another note, it looks like I can use the kick-start gear on the crankshaft for the crank pickup, so all I gotta do weld a pickup to...

    sticky commet tav2

this guy was on the other kart, my best friend took it apart to clean it up ~ 16 years ago (wow that feels strange to say; I'm not that old), probably did something wrong, stuffed it back together and shoved the kart in a storage shed. fast forward to sunday, we got the kart running, sort of...

    hammerhead twister (re)build

it is. cheaper to buy them in 4's. They're modular, so in reality, it's 4 seperate ~36 (or so)mm throttle bodies. I'm only going to need one for the gy6

    hammerhead twister (re)build

Let's try this thing out then. got the throttle bodies yesterday, haven't taken them apart yet (no real reason, still waiting on stuff for the engine), I'll be ditching the electronic choke & either use the spot where the shaft came in for the air temp sensor, or weld both sides up and put the...

I'll try and keep that in mind, most forums I'm on are the opposite.

    Hello from San Antonio

hah! I'm no expert by any means. I've had mine for about three weeks, but I had to learn quickly, it was locked up when I bought it and in bad shape once I got it running. I've been getting parts from this place https://www.gy6store.com (and if I'm not allowed to plug someone else's business I...

that's odd, they're just jpg links to pbase, shouldn't be anything blocking them... I don't have a special go-kart subfolder yet, so there's other things in addition to kart pics. http://www.pbase.com/kdh51/family_stuff

    hammerhead twister (re)build

Indeed. The clone drove the search for a chassis, I found the hammerhead, got it running, and decided to use the engine already in it (it has reverse and other things that would be difficult to convert over, however after diving in, it wouldn't be entirely impossible) I have since found another...

    Hello from San Antonio

As 2SlickNick said, that's a vent for the stator/flywheel. if it is a type-b gy6 I think you can go fairly large on the bore/stroke (if you were so inclined). either way, the rest of the goods should be straight forward. They are very easy to work on, I'm rebuilding mine right now (p.o. ran it...

    Hello from San Antonio

looks almost identical to the gy6 on my twister 150. Anyway, welcome! My wife is from SA and I get to visit at least once a year, great city! I know it's not an SA exclusive, but I bring my morning coffee to work in a Bill Miller's Texas Tea Bucket.

I'll get some tonight. after looking at an exploded parts diagram last night, it may not be missing as much as thought, and may just be dirty with a few worn out parts.

    hammerhead twister (re)build

I can't think of a creative intro here, so I'll just jump in to the facts and ideas. This project started with the procurement of a honda clone 13hp engine for cheap, and need to do something fun with it.. while searching for a suitable (read: any) frame, I stumbled across someone selling a...

    gy6 DC conversion questions/comments/opinions

I hope I'm not beating a dead horse here, if I am, I apologize. I've been googling this particular topic for a few days and most information appears to be a bit disjoint and/or "less" than what I'm looking for. Cliffs: I'm fuel injecting my buggy, and I wants more amps and watts and more more...

well, it's on like donkey kong now. I'll kick off another thread this weekend I reckon to document the process going forward.. ordered a transmission kit (variator, clutch, weights, and whatever other neat things) and an engine overhaul kit (cylinder, piston, gaskets, rings, head), so it should...

it's fun, but the motor is in bad shape unfortunately. changed the oil yesterday and replaced the tie rod ends, greased all the suspension points (never been done apparently!) and it's *much* tighter. Discovered that p.o. lost a pad on one of the front calipers, and it's shot now.piston almost...
