Off the wall Drive train ???

My idea would not include using bicycle sprockets, derailer, etc. All those items can be fab'd with sturdier material. I'm mainly going for the drivetrain as a transmission. Let's say you're cruisin' around on jumps, hills, etc out in an open field or what not, and to get back where you came...

    Torque converter belt keeps breaking

I had this sort of problem with my yerf dog, and I thought the belt was too loose, so I went to Tractor Supply and purchased one of the 26" deck belts (blue). It doesn't slip, but does take a little more throttle to engage, since it's smaller in width, than the standard one. But it does have a...

Off the wall Drive train ???

So, I was thinking the other night as I was trying to fall asleep...is it possible to put a drivetrain like bikes have on a go kart? Maybe I don't know much about drivetrains, but I was thinking along the lines that a bike's drivetrain on a go kart would provide a type of transmission for a go...

    Speedometer

I went to Dick's sporting goods, here, in my area and picked up a Sigma 1200 for $20. It was extremely easy to calibrate. All I had to do was measure the (rolling) circumference of my tire. I just made a mark on my tire with chalk where the valve stem is and then marked the pavement. I then...

    Engine Selection ??

I am not sure if those are the correct numbers, or not...the guy that's selling it posted on craigslist, and I'm in the preliminary stages of buying. I asked him for the info, and that's what he gave me, so I'm not sure. As far as having a jackshaft...I already have one...and I'm guessin' my...

Hey, THANKS! That alone is useful to me. I'm not sure what bore my torqaverter is, but I'll let you know. Have you had any luck finding an engine manual for this? I've tried B&S website and it gives me nothing...

    Engine Selection ??

The engine is a model 25442, Type 0215 01, Code 87012910. It has a 1" Keyed shaft. Now, I currently have a 6.5 tec on my kart now. Do you know if this will work without a lot of money to modify it? I know I'm gonna have to get a mounting plate, or drill holes to mount it. I just mean, as far as...

    Engine Selection ??

So, I've decided to look else where for an engine, since the generator engines require a lot of work to make functional on a go kart. Here's an option of what I'm looking at right now. Does anyone know much about these engines? Any input on performance, application, etc. would be greatly...

    Engine Selection ??

Hey everyone! I'm a new poster here, but I've been a frequent visitor to previous posts. Anyway...I wanted a little advice on engine selection for my yerfdog 3203 go kart. I currently have a tecumseh 6.5hp, but it doesn't seem to have enough power for me and my brother-in-law to ride around at a...

    Hey, everyone!

Thanks for your input guys, especially on the gear ratio...I'll be sure to keep that in mind. As far as how big I'm looking to build. Well, my plans call for the frame to be 43"x72". Do you think it's a good idea to have a live axle with a jack shaft?
