2013 - Turbine powered hydrostatic launch craft

Front hub update part 2 Fabroman, Good idea. I think the back welds are ok, but I'll go over the front welds again. Today I worked a little more on the hubs: The original studs that came with the hubs were 1/2" but when I measured the wheels I have, they were 9/16". Somehow I thought I...

2013 - Turbine powered hydrostatic launch craft

Front hub update :oOf the two hubs I ordered, one was fairly true, the other was quite off. Since I didn't think I could cut off the original flange without destroying it or the tube, I decided to just put the adapter on as true as I could and go with that. After I welded the adapters on, I...

It's kind of hard to tell about all the numbers, but this is what I THINK it says: HM80 15514CF SER 9186C I'm assuming the model is HM80. Horizontal shaft, 8.0 hp?? (Not sure what the M means)

Engine found Moving ever so slowly along... I picked up a slightly used snowblower at a school garage sale. It hasn't been used much but hadn't ran for a while. When I got it home, I sprayed some ether in the carb and pulled the rope. It fired right up and ran for a second or two, so that's...

Hub adapters Ok, so I drew up some wheel hub adapter plates and took them to a local machine shop. They used a laser cutter to cut them out, PRETTY COOL! They turned out better than I expected.

CAD pictures I guess one of my goals with this project is to have it all drawn up beforehand to try to minimize screw-ups. Plus, it's the challenge of having an accurate computer model itself that intrigues me also. SO, below is the current state of affairs. I need to still: -decide on an...

From a couple John Deere rear-engine mowers: Rear wheels, pedals, linkages, gas tank (Note pic of rear wheel hub, this is for a 5 bolt wheel) Various industrial...

Front hub for 5 bolt 4.5 inch bc

Thanks for you help. I think that's what I'll do, make an adapter plate if I can't re-drill on the existing plate.

Front hub for 5 bolt 4.5 inch bc

Yup, 3 bolts on a 5 bolt wheel. The "hub" was rectangular with the corners slightly rounded and two of the holes were too far apart to be bolted to the hub. The rectangle had two holes on one end and one on the other. Neat, eh?

    Howdy from Iowa

Hi everyone. I've wanted to build a go cart for a long time. I finally got the urge to do it and I sorta want to see how good of a machine I can build while scrounging and bartering for most of the parts. I live on a farm, so I want something that will handle going through fields and maybe...

Front hub for 5 bolt 4.5 inch bc

These are rear wheels off of (2) JD rear engine mowers. They really didn't have much for hubs, just rectangular pieces of steel with 3 holes for bolts. They were attached to the drive axle, so no bearings for free-wheeling. I have rear wheels off a JD 185 hydro for the rear of my kart and...

Front hub for 5 bolt 4.5 inch bc

I don't have any spindles yet. I'm building from scratch and I have wheels, steering wheel and lots of scrap steel tubing. I'll buy the spindles/axles based on what hubs I can find. I suppose I could make an adapter plate, but I'd rather not if I don't have to. This will be an off road kart...

Front hub for 5 bolt 4.5 inch bc

Hi everyone, i'm trying to build a two person kart and have some wheels for the front that have a 5 bolt pattern on a 4 1/2 inch bolt circle. Does anyone know where I can find hubs to fit this? I'd like bearings for a 3/4" axle but I suppose a 5/8" would be ok. Stephen
