Arachnid Build, ... or is it! (Highly Modified)

Wouldn't want you to redo something this pretty, so I'm just checking - If the rack doesn't shorten down enough, shim out the upper wishbone mounts so the tie rod pivots are in line with the upper and lower wishbone pivots, then shorten the upper wishbone. If you don't, the wheel(s) during...

    F1/Indy Inspired Kart

Getting racing tires and rims would cost well over 800 bucks. I might just start off cheap and when I can afford high offset rims and tires I'll redesign the suspension. No point in just getting tires either, because if the point is to get the most performance possible, i'd be losing it through...

Increase speed from 40 to 80mph

I want my kart to fly to the moon. what type of tires should I get? The lightness of my hollow skull and my 3.5 tecumseh should do the trick.

    New to me, 1985 rm250

had play in rear swingarm bearing. nice rims and tires. cosmetically yours is in much greater condition. the plastics and seat were **** from sitting outside. it's a 2 stroke. had spark and good compression. coulda had it running in a day but I have engines and dirtbike already so I just sold it.

Here's some new photos. I'm gonna get some more square and round tubing, finish up the frame by running tubing from the front suspension uprights to the taller uprights in the rear so as to create an aesthetic slope, and then begin on the suspension. The rear won't have a jackshaft, despite the...

    Go Kart Tire Wear Issue

Rear tire wear is obviously from being single wheel drive. even if you're not spinning the tires that tire is the only one supplying torque. Your right side tie rod (long one) is bent. The front right tire wear could be due to the kids taking a turn in a single direction. lift the kart up like...

    Picked up another toy...

it'll stretch your chain and throw off your valve timing. i just turn the bike on and tighten the mcct until the rattling of the chain goes away, and no more.

    Picked up another toy...

sounds more like valve ticking than cam chain related. check valve clearance yet? I just got done doing an engine rebuild on my roommates xt600 1984 dual sport. sound went away when it warmed up but after the rebuild it no longer exists. Pisses me off because he can now sit right along side me...

    Independent Rear Suspension

Most of the time and work that goes into building any independant suspension system from scratch is the bearing plates. The time spent making the arms is minutes. Make the first one on some plywood then screw in some wood blocks for a jig and you can make an arm every 10 minutes. This is how I...

    Independent Rear Suspension

Universal Joints work fine, and weigh less. I'm using them on my build now as well as ones in the past. depending on the travel you have it may not be ideal. My kart now will sit 4 inches off the ground, so that's not a big deal

    sqaure tubing

This here is the species of duncecicus maximus, native to these parts. I'd use 1/16 on a coffee table.

    Independent Rear Suspension

camber change during travel is a good thing! during body roll you want the wheel to camber out so that the wheel patch stays level with the road. Can you visualize it? It's difficult to figure what is best without putting it on the road, but that's what's so great about heim joints, you can...
