Kart ID & How did i do?

I went to look at and buy an 80s Suzuki fa50. I saw the man had 2 go kart frames and took the 3 home for $140. I am not sure who made them and I will prabobly just custom build them but I would like to know how they were set up from the factory. The blue one has some obvious bad welds so I am...

    Gearing options

Thanks sid, I just noticed I wrote my ratios wrong... early morning. So I should keep the 6:1 and either get a bigger motor or continue upgrading the 212 for more RPMs? Also, I was just thinking, would it be beneficial to get rid of the TC motor mount plate and move the driven pully to the JS...

    Gearing options

I have a Carters go kart similar to a yerf dog with suspension. It has a predator 212, govenor and oil sensor removed. It also has a 30 series CVT and a chineese mikuni 22mm carb. Gear ratio is currently 6:1. It had a top speed of aprox. 21 mph before the carb and aprox. 31 mph after. It got...

    Steering sensitivity / wobble?

Edit-- sorry for my lack of knowledge I now know the difference between trailing and leading links on spindal arms-- I dont know a whole lot about different set ups but, my spindles and pitman arm face forward. My kart also has control arms and poor steering radius. A bigger diameter steering...

What upgrade next and cylinder head ?

I have a carter go kart that is similar to a yerf dog. I bought it with a gx 160 that ran but was missing throttle likage, clutch, chain, sprokets and had an aftermarket 1" jackshaft. The previous owner put that motor on it from a compressor but did not finish the build. I gave it a pred. 212...

First Go Kart - Need advice

Maybe your clutch engagement is off, throwing too much at the tire too fast. Possibly getting stressed out under certain loads like turns. I dont know for sure just a thought.

    Brakes

I think a major advantage of having 2 pistons and 2 lines is adjustability. You can have more braking in the front and less in the rear or vise versa.

    Carters cart axle question.

Thank you for your response and opinions. I agree after looking at it more im realizing it is going to take a good bit of fabrication just to have a spot to weld on hangers. I found a shaft that should work but it is longer than the original. How far out can the tires be without making it...

    Carters cart axle question.

Hi again folks. I have a Carter? Go kart I have been working on. (Details in my first post https://www.diygokarts.com/vb/showthread.php?t=44324) I recently had a rear bearing blow out on the stock 3/4" live axle housed in a metal tube flared at the ends for berings. Apparently it has been bad...

    Carters? Go Kart Build

Hey yall. First time posting. I got this go kart for about $120. It had a Honda gx 160 from an air compressor thrown on it that needs at the verry least a carb rebuild and throtle assembly. Steering was locked up, old tires, bad front and back bearings, bad brakes, no chain, no clutch or TC, and...
