    Our entry in DIYGK buildoff

Well, here we go. I'm going to be building with Evan, he is also a member of DIYGK he lives just down the street and is always here so will be included in the build. We have no idea what we're going to do yet, but as you can see we do have a good supply of hardware to grab from. I did start...

As anybody who keeps up with this forum knows, I'm designing and starting to build a simple, no computor, no frills, basic dyno. This dyno will give an accurat HP, and torque value, at desired RPM's, for the conditions that your engine is at the time. So far I have rounded up a base plate, steel...

    Has anybody built a dyno?

I been looking at some dyno plans, It doesn't seem that hard to build a small one. I think a simple one could be made with a disk brake, fish scale, and a tach.

    Cheap construction metal

I found that old broke down tool box's, the roll around type, have a lot of big flat sheet metal. Cuts easy with a angle grinder w/ cutoff wheel. Then the frame from a garden tractor is a good source of thicker sheet for engine mounts, rods for linkages, steering wheel and shaft. Square tube...

    Chain quality

OK, what is a good quality chain? I have some of the cheaper stuff from China, and the problem is it gets stiff, no matter how much I lube it, the links start to lock up.

    $0 Budget build

Well the neighbor boy said he wanted a mini bike, but he's got no money. He found an engine and some old mini bike parts at a local scrap yard, a bed frame, took the wheels off my HF hand truck, and since I have the metal working tools he set up in my garage. here's what he's built so far.

OK first off this is a B&S and the recoil starter is from a 3.5 The PTO is 3/4 and the acc shaft is 1/2, Can someone tell me what HP this thing is. maybe an age and if its worth anything. It does run real sweet no smoke, and nothing is knocking inside.
