That is very cool and brings back a lot of memories when I was also that age. Do you still have the original engine? If you do ever need to paint it, powder coating is the way to go for durability. The guy at Go Kart Alley can help you with decals as he has a source who makes them. Go Power...
In addition to the other comments recently posted which are correct, the guy at www.gokartalley.com Is extremely helpful regarding parts and advice on these Karts. He has numerous Manco Karts. Manco made Go Karts for Sears in the 70's and 80's. Also www.gopowersports.com is a really good...
That is probably true. The guy from Go Kart Alley I spoke to and he said he makes/cuts them out of white plastic waste paper baskets and then paints them to match. Great idea.
Yes exactly. I have the same era 1980 Manco quicksilver kart which looks almost identical to the American Express. Thank you for sending those pictures those early Mancos are tough to find anything on. Do you have a faring like that or know where I could get one? Any pictures of that era...
Anyone have or know where I can find a go kart faring for an old school Manco quicksilver which is very much like the American Express model from 70's 80's. Thanks and please let me know.
I totally agree when I was a paperboy couldn't wait to work on go karts and Mini bikes. Now it's all about playing on a smartphone and video games. Very few teach their kids how to do anything mechanical anymore, these kids now don't even know how to check /change the oil in a lawn mower.
Well you did a great job and it is sad Manco is now out of business and Techumseh was bought by a Chinese company and absorbed into that company. Everything used to be made here in the U.S.
You could do a clutch band brake changeover at pretty low cost and just keep the scrub brake parts for originality if u sell it. The centrifugal clutches work best on a flat level surfaces off roading or terrain is much tuffer on them and they will overheat. Teach whoever is driving it if...
Manco made them for Sears. As a kid I always wanted the orange karate kart. All of them looked so cool in the catalog. You have a real looker there as all these old school karts like this are getting very rare.
Looks awesome I'm not sure I'm looking at the final pictures but the ones I've seen when it looks painted looks great did you powder coat the frame? 3 or 5 hp Techumseh? Who is going to ride it?
