That kart was built by MANCO for Sears & Roebuck. Manco wheels are what your looking for. Bad news, new Manco parts are not available. Good news, most generic parts will fit with little rework.

Manco made them for Sears. As a kid I always wanted the orange karate kart. All of them looked so cool in the catalog. You have a real looker there as all these old school karts like this are getting very rare.

Neat kart.
I know they are both original and period correct, but I have to say I don't know which one I feel the sorriest for - the centrifugal clutch or the tire friction brakes. Even with 2 kids I'd think both were a little sketchy. 2 adults would be "hey ya'all, watch this" :giggle: Or in the case of the clutch - smell this . . .

You could do a clutch band brake changeover at pretty low cost and just keep the scrub brake parts for originality if u sell it. The centrifugal clutches work best on a flat level surfaces off roading or terrain is much tuffer on them and they will overheat. Teach whoever is driving it if the cart is not moving or like it is stopped take your foot off the gas so the clutch is not wiped out.

Fantastic Job !!!!!! How did you aquire it? Have you ridden it yet?
I bought it for $150 off a guy in long island by me. I still have it. My kids are all grown but my neighbor has two young boys. Im gonna sell him it for what im invested in it
So total cost is about $250. Not bad deal
I enjoyed restoring it. Now off to find next project

Well you did a great job and it is sad Manco is now out of business and Techumseh was bought by a Chinese company and absorbed into that company. Everything used to be made here in the U.S.

Yeah, operators weight, terrain, and driving styles can definitely decide if the clutch lasts an hour or a decade.
I don't think you can ever have too much braking.

Again, this is probably a choice of leave it all stock, ride it inside it's limitations and accept it for it's heritage to keep the value up, or do a few mods to upgrade it's capabilities and enjoyment level, at the expense of originality and resale value.

That cart turned out beautifully done. It’s a shame they still don’t build karts like this to light kids imaginations any more.
I totally agree when I was a paperboy couldn't wait to work on go karts and Mini bikes. Now it's all about playing on a smartphone and video games. Very few teach their kids how to do anything mechanical anymore, these kids now don't even know how to check /change the oil in a lawn mower.
