how big of a trac are ya racing on? if it's a small bull ring you'll want a 12-72 for gearing on a 1/7 mile track you'd want a 12-60 anf for 1/5 mile track you'll want a 15/55 i wouldn't use a tork-a -verter it could burn up on racing karts they don't run tork converters get a good shoe clutch...
here in ohio you can run older karts and you can run karts that are home built as long as they resemble a racing kart and for engine wise we run what is called a clone clamer class that runs the knock off honda over head valve engine and that's prett much it the kart i race is a 2000 kart and i...
you should be ok on my racing kart i run wide tires that are about 32 inches in tire cercrunfance (sp) depending on how much stagger i need to get the kart to handle
the honda gx160 parts will fit in a clone motor and i have expirence with them i run one on my racing kart and don't have a problem with it runs good and i'm pushing every bit 5400 rpms with a 12-60 gear ratio i hope this help some
the clutch sounds like a max-tork the 12 tooth clutch will work but i'd go with a bigger gear because if you go too low of a gear on the back sprocket it will burn your clutch up again and you'll over rev your motor and break the rod sending it out the block unless it has an arc rod in it. i...
an un governed engine will not over rev if they over rev then they have a cam with a bigger lift in them that caused it or they geared the motor too high causing it to over rev and as far as the flywheel goes the rumors i hear are the magnets on the fly wheels on the clone motors are only glued...
the stock flywheel will be fine i ran the b/s stock flywheel on my flathead motor last year on my racing kart and i was pushing 6500 rpms but anything more than that i would have put a billet flywheel on it
use a centrifugal clutch as stated above but gearing will depend on how fast you want to go and how far you want to go on my racing kart i use a 12-60 on a 1/7 mile dirt oval and when i go to bigger tracks like 1/5 mile i use a 15 tooth clutch and a 55 tooth gear on the back i hope this will...
you can do lots to your motor it all depends on how fast you wanna go speed cost money but this web site has all you need to build your engine http://www.apskarting.com/
if your going to turn the motot 6500 rps you'll need to get the arc rod or it will shatter and send it through the block and depending on what cam you get you might have to get the lifter carrage welded so the cam doesn't bust tthe lifter carrage.
i use a disk clutch for racing and i'm turning about 6700 rpms the clutch i have has springs on the outside and i can adjust where i want the clutch to come in at which is about 400 rpms on a big track and on smaller tracks i set it to were it comes in right away
