The first thing you have to do with any racing mower is reinforce the steering and drop it down. Does it have a trans axel? how many speeds does it have ? Is it a variable speed mower?If you wish to go with the racing mower look I would keep the vertical 15hp and run the transaxle.

This is a converted motor I have welded up a new oil flicker and cut new grooves to allow the oil to drain. The motor does have a four hole pattern that I plan on adapting to fit the backplate whether it be by drilling new holes or using 1/8 in steel to fabricate a mount.

My guess would be its running rich on the high speed jet causing it load up on fuel and pop. I would lean out the highspeed jet

What do you think I would be looking at for a top speed with a 30 series vs the 40

Couldn't I just mill down the shaft or get a converter?

I think I might go with the 30 series because this is an ice racer so it's not like I'm going to be climbing lots of hills.

I've only done a few mods to it like a straight pipe, removed governor ,Polish and port I plan on adding a tach as well

I have a John Deere r72 racing mower with a Side shaft Briggs 8hp I locked the rear axle and it currently has a 50 tooth sprocket. I have 16in tires so a centrifugal clutch is out of the picture. I've been looking at torque converters but am new to them which one should I go with? Thanks
