A notched key? No issue, just load the key with the flywheel so it seats in rotation direction.
If your going no key you better have the taper lapped and use a degree wheel for accuracy.
Ok good info. I had a fear that altering it could make it structurally unsound, kinda like those "billet flywheels" that are actually cast and then milled.

you need to retract such language and make a blood offering to the gods

Speaking of blood offerings, I am reminded of the challenging learning curve I had when switching to a “safety” razor and double edge razor blades. I abandoned all that noise with the Schick and Gillette multi-decker razor wars with those dumb cartridges costing megabucks. To get more bang for your buck, go traditional.

Get you a good heirloom like a Merkur or like me, an Edwin Jagger DE89

Or even that Van Der Hagen one sold at Wally’s World should be good. Basic going rate for blades is probably something like 2.99 for 10. Save dat money, yo!

Anyone else going savagely retro?

So this was our rain gauge yesterday, emptied it out yesterday. Wonder how full it will be when I get home after work?View attachment 164229
Last July we got almost 5" of rain in 2 hours. Street flooded up to our house. Eventually the basement drains started bringing up sewage water. Such a nightmare. 20 years and it never got that bad here that fast. Rain makes me cringe.

Hail away around here, water damage is my nemesis! I"ve never used homeowners insurance for anything in my time as a homeowner. I've never finished my basement because of water issues. Hail damage 100% I would. My house is brick, but I do need new gutters. 😂

But seriously man, feel for you with all that rain in Nebraska! Supposed to get over an inch of rain tonight here, and I'm already getting anxiety.

On a side note, got the wife a new vehicle today. She had a Compass, so she loves it. It was a demo, so the spark plug issue has been fixed. Finally something I built. lol.
