It DOES sound like it's trying to go into gear by itself or as if you were doing it off to the side, tricking us. Is it a manual or automatic? Some quads are the latter.
Did *he* tear up the grass? Would be great if it had just rained and he left muddy ruts, or better yet gotten stuck.

Same plane. Had low compression readings. Poked a borescope down the sparkplug hole. Cylinder walls are rusted.
That means a top end job now. Jugs have to be pulled and honed and a new set of rings put in.
Been stripping the stuff back so we can pull the jugs.

Its been nice outside the last few days. Would have been a great opportunity to either work on the sled or tear the VW apart. Sadly all I had accomplished was doing an oil change on the truck. This weekend is supposed to be cold again and I have been neglecting on getting the old 20lb propane bottle refilled. Garage needs some reorganization, but the motivation to do anything hardly exists.

One thing is for sure, being a commissioned based auto tech is not all its cracked up to be. So far today I have been on the struggle bus, trying to disconnect QD fuel lines off a 2010 6.7 Cummins for the P65 recall. The fuel heater got too hot, melted the electrical connector, and allowed diesel to leak out.
Everything is covered in the last 16 years worth of dirt. The recall came out back in around 2012 and the vehicle has now just come in to have the recall done. So who gets it? Me. Not some more senior Ed technician. Just some tech who just has enough training done to on paper, be "knowledgeable".
Don't become an auto tech, unless you are a sado masochist and, can be on a hybrid pay system.

I lost my tail today doing the recall. If the filter/heater housing wasn't tossed into the trash, I'll see if I can do a few pictures. Job paid 0.8 hours, took me from 8am to 3:30pm to get everything done.How come you ain't got no pics? Sounds like exciting carnage.
Also, due to the weather today, it took me from 5:30 to almost 7 to get home. Normally I'm home by 6:20. I-80 was a cluster. At least 3 accidents within 15 miles that blocked the East bound side to Lincoln.

That really blows man! Are there any mom and pop shops in the area that are hiring? Around here it is hard to find a good mechanic that is honest and shows up to work daily. The ones that do get paid really well. Yeah it is mostly brakes, exhaust, oil changes, general shyt, but steady work. Keep your head up and keep grinding till you find something new. A good mechanic is worth a ton around here.

Well there is a small job shops like 3 miles down the road from me that builds irrigation pump covers for agriculture. Might try them. 3 mils vs 90 mile round trip every single day, might be worth it.
