On this episode of stoopid we explore the fine points of braided fuel line and AN fittings. The first thing to know is its a bit**. I'm sure there is a trick that l am unaware of, so it was trial and error. Mostly error. After a dozen or so attempts l finally hit on a process that worked. I did not say correct process, cuz while it worked, there's gotta be a mo bedder way.
So this became a 3 hour excersize in patients with a helping of frustration.
l did emerge the victor without any bloodshed.
So here's what ya need to know: Measure carefully then send the stuff to WTR he can do it easily. This is all that got done.IMG_5226.jpeg

Those field serviceable fittings can be fun.
Use tape and a cutoff wheel to keep the braid clean and a nice square cut.
Hose in vise and screw the collar on. Use a dab of silicone grease.
Then the inner part, again a dab of grease.
Dont forget the left-hand thread. That catches some people.

And like denny, im not a fan of fram filters. The element has been known to fall apart and clog stuff up. Im a Wix guy.

I used a drill and a socket to put the collar on. I figgered out the left thread on attempt #2.
Should be good now, iffin there are no leaks.
I'm not a fan of fram filters either, I am a fan of free filters though. You must know sumpthin I don't know, it says Holley on the filter. It looks to be a nice filter, but maybe not? I can put a different element in that can I suppose?

On this exciting episode of Stoopid, the "fuel supply and distribution center" is done except for the line to the fuel rail and tank return hoses.

The next challenge is figgering out the "lean angle cutoff switch". The name conjures up mental images of someone not having a good day. The test procedure should be purdy straight forward. Not so. Research continues.
Maybe i should convert it to a roll over switch?
You don't want to miss the exciting conclusion!

Well, its not as bad as it seems.
l asked Al and he said:
A lean angle switch, also called a tilt or tip-over switch, is
a safety device on a motorcycle that automatically shuts off the engine if the bike leans over past a certain angle. It is designed to prevent the engine from running if the motorcycle has crashed or fallen. This switch can also be part of a larger Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) that provides data for other advanced electronic systems

the main purpose is to shut the engine off in the event of a crash when the bike is laying on the side with the throttle stuck open. Seems engines dont oil properly laying on the side. Still, useless in this application.
