......Predator timing is dot to dot right? {ATTACH=full]138376[/ATTACH]

What? Didn't you note the timing marks before you took it apart? :p

Engine still has its governor and oil shut-off sensor and the internals are bright, clean and not even oil stained. It is looking better and better!

A tidbit of rust means little on random internal parts; the assembler could have been sweating like a race horse, wiped his brow and then got his sweaty salty hands all over the internals before buttoning the engine up and sending it down the conveyor belt. Some people have the gift of leaving rusty fingerprints with hands that seem dry to the touch...must have something to do with their PH balance.

All put back together. the yard is cleaned up. The house chores are done. I’ll fire it up whenever I wake up tomorrow. It pulls over fine no tight spots. I bet it runs just fine.A2E4D195-8859-492E-9FE8-EA478DF9E178.jpeg008D8B35-5EA2-4622-B675-348102EAAB96.jpeg

Hard starting? but after 7 or so pulls it will start and run excellent! idles fine And revs up very smooth! It has a new plug in it. I have only cleaned the carburetor once and it was bad inside. So another cleaning is on the list. Last I would think is valve adjustment? I left that all alone. I‘m impressed. my first predator and I see what the hype is about. Some billet goodies would build a REAL monster.1E7831A9-F0DB-434B-AC95-99DCCF94D56C.jpeg

Wasteland mini bike is a go.. I found a rear tire and a 35 chain sprocket that I made fit... next was a clutch... I kept the genuine 40 chain comet clutch and gave him a 35 chain china clutch. I need a crank bolt and a few clutch spacers. working it out as I go I guess so no plan..8CD9AEEE-7185-4E1C-931C-A7C95AE8C9B0.jpeg

Ahh what a sweetheart of a runabout! Completely forgotten to rust and there it is pulling me around the block once again! hand throttle of course. it’s growing on me. Also a trip around the block and some flogging cured the hard start. Steering is broke so watch out! B04B6230-DE4B-4D76-9C16-D7477B7C75E6.jpegA8011BB5-0590-42FE-860E-B08733FC189D.jpeg

Wait, whoa! Hold up! What happened to the middle of the story?

The bore was okay and the piston wasn't stuck? You work fast. So fill me in, you had me thinking this engine was fairly trashed, was it a misdiagnosis of epic proportions or were you pulling our leg(s)?

That Brown Stain guy, well, he leaves brown stains wherever he goes I guess... the username fits! 😄
Proved that guy wrong.

I Worked with a few oil riggers (so they said) In a car garage for a bit. They were foul mouthed ball bustin not nice people so I don’t take anything personally. We can all laugh here trust me. that‘s why I was confused as to my ohh come on comment awhile back got the op so worked up? guess it’s just growing up with foul mouths vs not... some people would kneel over if they heard me in the garage pulling words from the forbidden book...

I'm glad it's working for him and he's always coming up with some good deals. I don't blame him a bit for trying. It's better then most will even try, 😆 🤣 😂 😹.

It's all good 👍

Well Parts Guy, what happened to the rest of the story?

I mean, I don't expect photos for every step of the way; I know that takes time and effort, but did you find anything wrong with this motor?

Don't tell me .....you are running this engine without... a valve cover!

I don't see a valve cover on it.

Well bed time and no pictures. I big brained the governor rod. took a cable Oiler and some oil and the throttle system works flawless governed. I just took the front hub apart and got the horribly stuck drum breaks all disassembled. they are savable and will work awesome! bed time

ok so I needed a gov arm... instead of a flat piece of metal I was all like I delete the 5hp govs anyway why can’t I use the gov arm? so solid Linkage rod from silver arm to carb butterfly. throttle cable to Briggs gov arm. and springs connecting to two gov arms so the gov works against the throttle and it works! the smoothest easiest pulling throttle cable system I have ever built. I assume the stock gov arm on all predators works this well.9C7356B7-43D5-4B71-8ADC-BEDE57A8E20E.jpeg

That looks like a better set up for a mini, then the factory "utility engine" throttle assembly. 👍

With the engine off, how much twist do you get out of the grip from idle to WOT????
