Where I grew up in Whiting Indiana we had steel mills, machine shops, and dozens of manufacturers for different industrial parts and equipment. Now all gone! Only part of one steel mill left. Even 2 electrical power plants closed up.
I’ll put my town into perspective. The factory’s shut down so there was no need for banks. So just last year both banks on the same street closed within months of each other. Just like the factory’s. closed in months of each other.

So downtown, ghost town? Anyone left? That sucks, I guess the couch cushion is a better spot in these times anyway. You staying, or going? I'm sure that you have friends leaving... driving everyone to the busy, crowded, stuffy, cities...

Ok so this trike is so much fun! The 3hp has a welded camshaft and the crankshaft was ground and clearanced for the big lobes. it has a 5hp carburetor I re-worked and stiffer valve springs. of course the pump block filed true and the butterfly filed for true WOT it runs and rides amazing. I’m calling it a cruiser at this point. 59BE7F8C-000C-4F2A-B794-B152CCEA0431.jpeg69DF40D2-DF50-42F5-8705-5B8222D38D06.jpeg988BC259-9CBF-46A0-AD73-02319602A456.png8D156307-093D-48B9-947A-CC3B8D92045C.jpegB1EE3915-DDF4-44CF-B45E-12C9B92AC436.jpeg

that’s tank! I’ll be wrenching on something kneeled over and without warning tank will climb onto my back and just perch there. Awesome cat
I got three of them things called cats, though mine are indoor muffins. Maybe I'll get pictures...

I think I’m in the market for another 5hp. the cheap gasket melted flaked off and scored the Cylinder a bit. Not sure if I caught it early enough or not. the crank is not grinding away the casting. I’m gonna run a stone hone through it and find out.1EA337B6-8072-4245-B32B-8C027A8323B1.jpeg

Darn cheap gasket! I guess you will be getting real nice gaskets now. Run that hone and please get back to us.

I about to head out now to pick up another whole 5hp for $35 then off to the store for a stone hone. new rod bolts/inserts ordered. the rod inserts/bolts that I popped out after brake in look flawless.. I’m thinking about popping them back in. If it all goes south i’ll have a stone hone another 5hp and I’ll just pick up another $60 rod. after running one and pulling it apart before it made to much noise or came apart.. I learned what I did wrong. so I’m actually thrilled in a way.

Only $60 for a rod? That’s a pretty nice deal, for billet machined parts. Especially since 5HP flywheels have proven fairly safe at high RPMs, not too expensive for a basic governor delete flow job. Billet flywheels are always safer, but I trust a stock 5hp flywheel way more than a clone or predator stock one.
