Looking awesome! It makes a difference in he look with all the stripes gone

Yes, it does, it makes a big difference.

Gettin' 'er ready for the orange (company colors)

I thinkin' about tryin' a printed "wrap" this time
...instead of orange paint & vinyl decals/lettering :idea2:

I've built/assembled (3) of these trucks now (over ~10 years)
(had the Orange painted on by a local body shop)
...but, they ended up being (3) different shades of orange :ack2:

They all looked great individually
...but, when they were all parked in a row :smiley_omg:

Another truck/another road trip

After the truck in Lebanon, Pennsylvania didn't work out & before I found the truck in Knoxville, Tennessee, I was lookin' around & came across a 2001 Isuzu NPR box truck in Hartford, Connecticut.
It's an off lease Penski rental truck listed on Truck Trader as "Running Truck/Starts Hard"
The mileage was kinda high (~234,000) so, I threw out a "low ball" offer/bid of $3,000.00.

Well, a couple of weeks ago I got an eMail sayin, "You won the bid" :smiley_omg:
Now, I/we gotta go on another road trip (~650mi.) to Hartford, Conn.

The kids haven't been too happy about gettin' left home, with grandma, for the last (2) trips
...so, we planned this trip during their "spring break" from school & are gonna take them with us.
(they don't even know yet) :cheers2:

So, we are gonna stop to see the Statue of Liberty
...& the wife wants to take the kids to the Bronx zoo for an afternoon.

Then, we'll go on to Connecticut to pick up this truck. :2guns:

Here is a PDF file they sent me of a 3rd party inspectors report for this truck. (not sure if it's accessible)

Holy Crap ~1,300 mi. in (4) days :ack2:
...I'm kool with the road trips for a while.

For the record: New York SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS
...WAY to many people
...double & triple parked vehicles on very narrow streets
…& super high prices

Seen, The Statue of Liberty
...it was kool but, expensive
…& I left my camera in the car so, the only pic I have, is of her back side & from a distance.

Went thru, The Holland Tunnel

Drove by, The "Twin Towers" 911 Memorial (twice)
...didn't stop, couldn't find anywhere to park.

Then, by the time we (finally) got to the Bronx Zoo it was ~3:00
...the cost was $40.00 per adult (x2), $30.00 per kid (x2) plus $17.00 to park
…& the parking attendant told us that they start putting the animals away ~4:00
So, we (I) couldn't see spending ~$150.00 for strolling thru a zoo for ~1 hour. :smiley_omg:
My wife was pizzed (the kids didn't seem to care)
...& it was ALL my fault, of course. :furious2:

As for the truck, the body has some scrapes & bruises & the seats are kinda rough
...but, otherwise it's pretty "clean", I was actually kinda impressed. :cheers2:

First, the diesel engine (240,000 mi.) in this truck "purrs like a kitten"
...it runs even better than the truck from Knoxville, with only 124,000 mi. on it.

Second, these rental places really seem to maintain them well.
...this truck has (2) new batteries, a new radiator, (3) new belts, new vacuum lines & even, 1/2 of the exhaust system & a few of the brake lines are new(er) too :2guns:

Don't need (2) trucks so, probably gonna sell (1) of 'em.
...but, which one?

They both have pluses & minuses. (mileage, condition etc.)

Until then, I've been using one of them as a construction box while workin' on (finally finishing) the house.

Question:

The Glow Plug light "flashes" on the 2002 (from Tennessee)

It's supposed to light, when the ignition is first turned on, then go off (after ~5 seconds)
...it starts & runs fine, just the light keeps flashing

Doin some research, it seems like the flashing is an indicator that there is a problem in the system
...but, as I said it starts & runs like normal.

Any thoughts?

Glow plug controller of glow plugs starting to fail. Pull all glowplugs first and check for ones that are starting to swell up, there's your bad ones.

I checked, the Glow Plugs are all fine.

Doin research on Isuzu truck Glow Plug issues, some mentioned to look for wire chaffing
...I checked, the wiring is fine.

Another mentioned to check the Glow Plug relays.

I switched them (2) with the relays out of one of my other trucks (as a test)
...& the light still flashed.

Didn't know what else to check
...so, I took the truck to my buddy "Kevin" out at Brown Isuzu Trucks. ("the experts")

He called me a few days later & said, we have (2) hours into it
...the glow plugs checked OK
...& the wiring is OK too.

Yup, I already know :mad2:
...but, a flashing glow plug light also doubles as a "Check Engine Light" too. :idea2:

Now, (looking in the right direction) they found an electronic vacuum switch that was not working on the side of the engine. (~$50.00)

Bill was ~$350.00 total :ack2:
...but, problem solved. :2guns:

Yeah, I've learned that a check engine light, does not always mean there is something wrong with the vehicle. Case in point, the Nissan Titan XD with the 5.0L Cummins will throw a check engine light for:

Dirty air filter/air filter needs to be changed based on mileage
Low DEF
Fuel Filter needs to be changed
Water separator needs to be drained
Oil needs to be changed

All of that could be accomplished with having a dash setup like they have with the cars, just go in and change what's needed and reset the life on it and done.

At least you know now that it isnt anything real major and that you may just have something else going on. I guess it's just too dog on hard for them to put a check engine light in a box truck. I'm not sure because I never work on Cab over engine vehicles ever, but does this have OBD-II or is it some proprietary thing that requires a different scanner for interface? If it's just regular OBD-II, I'd go a head and buy a scanner from Amazon. Just read the description carefully because some require you to pay extra for additional vehicles (usually limits to one or two vehicles). That way you can save yourself further diag to a shop for stuff you already knew.

Quick update:
Still using one of the box trucks while workin' on my house

After I/we (me & a buddy) replaced/updated the windows, we covered the whole house with an additional layer of insulation (top to bottom) & also taped the seams, to help seal 'er up even more :cheers2:

Next, we covered the foundation with faux brick panels
…& then, started on the vinyl siding.

It's a work in progress :2guns:

Looking good. You guys build houses so differently there compared to here. We use brick all the way with no insulation in the walls. I have noticed that a lot of houses in the US are just made out of wood. Creating frames that are then insulated, sealed and some siding/cladding slapped on.

Wow! that's quite different.

My house was built in the 50's.
It has 2 x 4 pine stud walls covered by 1 x 10 pine boards on the outside, some tar paper & aluminum siding.

There is fiberglass insulation in the walls but, it's gettin' old & seems to be deteriorating.
...the windows & siding were getting kinda rough too.

So, tryin' to get 'er fixed/sealed up
…& maybe look kinda purty too. :2guns:

Home repairs never end! :roflol:

Where did you get the faux brick panels? Are they installed with caulking adhesive?

We have a good chunk of exposed foundation on one side of the house due to the property being on a slope. The lady has been bugging me about putting a brick border, but I'm no mason.

Those panels seem like a perfect solution. :idea2:

I got the faux brick panels from Menards (~$20.00/panel)
https://www.menards.com/main/buildi...r-siding-panel/sspanel216/p-1444449738334.htm

They are easy to install, not glued on (no caulk)
...just a metal starter strip that goes along the bottom (to lock the bottom of the panel into
…& a nailing flange along the top (that's usually covered by the bottom edge of the siding)

It looks like, if you do a whole wall of them, the bottom of the next row of panels locks onto the top edge of the previous row & covers the nailing flange.

If your interested, here are the installation instructions
https://hw.menardc.com/main/items/m...V5217D_InstallationGuide-NovikStoneSK_Eng.pdf

Look around because they have several styles
...like a regular brick wall "look"
https://www.menards.com/main/buildi...mer-siding-panel/10005204/p-1444449675088.htm

or Colorado river rock

I got most of what I wanted to get done on the house. :wai:
...for this year anyways

So, now I have (1) truck up for sale (Knoxville)
…& already sold the box off of the other truck (Hartford) :cheers2:

The truck from Hartford, Conn. seems to run just a bit better
…& is loaded with new parts, so Ima gonna stick with this one :2guns:

Next, to start gettin' 'er ready for a flatbed, I cleaned up
...& coated the exposed (rear) section of frame with this stuff
