Looking Awesome so far..

I think I wouldn't paint the cylinder..
while that'd be perfectly fine on a normal (gasoline) roadbike or such,
I think you're heading for much higher peak temperatures..
and adding a layer of unwanted thermal insulation (aka paint)
might not be the best idea;

Sure runs only for twenty seconds at a time maybe..
I still think you might be better off with the fins full cooling potential *shrugs*

I wish i had the time and money to build something like that but id rather fly around my neigborhood with the junk piles i built

I almost wish I didn’t do the things I do sometimes. I wasn’t planning on tearing the engine down but my supposedly best friend told me to and paint it the right way. I will always blame him for that ! It could have been running by now. I actually cut my engine costs in half and found the bearings local and less than half of a actual set for the specific engine. I got lucky there for sure.

We will see what it looks like. I am gonna leave the fin ends bare anyways. I don’t think it’s gonna matter on mine. I’m gonna run the VP racing fuel Q16 which is a mix between alcohol and race gas so it will make more power and run cooler but without the headache of draining and flushing the fuel after everytime I run it.

A co-worker of mine was told to run Q16 in his Caliber SRT-4 he uses to drag race. He didn't know how much it costs, then I showed him that it was $108 for a 5gal, $360 for a 15 gal, and $1104 for a 54 gal drum. Stuff ain't cheap that's for sure.

It’s like $16 a gallon here roughly. But it’s a small engine so it’s not gonna use a lot thankfully. I have used it before and it does what it says it does for sure tho. Extremely good fuel for aftermarket use.

Is it at like a speciality fuel station, kind of like aviation fuel? I was looking online at the bulk.

It’s at red rock distributing in Okc. So yeah it’s a specialty fuel distribution company. I’ve gotten my fuel there since I was a kid.

ALL of the bottom end is ready for reassembly finally ! Just gonna be waiting on parts now. Gonna go ahead and get all the engine mounts welded up also to make it easier on placement.

Well the stainless bolts showed and I decided to put the cases together to finish the engine mounts. Next week or so the bottom end will be back together and finished. We figured out the rod is good so we are focusing on the top end for new parts instead so that saves me $200.

As long as I can figure out the chain tightening process and the offset sprocket I should finish it before the end of the year ! And just maybe make a pass or two on the drag strip before they close for the season.

And some more pics..........

It’s almost go time for first fire I hope !

all bearings and seals are here. Piston showed up today. Brake caliper is here. And I been working on the cylinder and polishing the fins up. My buddy that sold the engine back gave me a carburetor and I ordered the billet intake setup for the mucho larger carburetor.

Gonna shoot for next week to go to my buddies house and press the bearings in. After that I can completely reassemble the whole bottom end. Then all I gotta do is reclock the aftermarket expansion chamber head flange so it fits my application.

And Sid I was gonna try and leave the inner cylinder bare BUT my media blasted couldn’t get all the paint off so I went ahead and painted it. I was actually really curious to see what it would look like.

I broke one of the cases pressing the bearings in and the cylinder is way off of being true and straight. So.............

cylinder was sent to California for looksy from the number one atc250r guy in the US. and he is sending a case back to replace my screw up. He said he’d sell it for $40 so got lucky there. He said he’ll look at it as soon as he receives it. Which is Sunday. So hopefully I’ll get it back together before the cold weather hits and the tracks close !

So my atc guy called me. The bore was off. It would have ran for a few seconds and locked up. He is boring it out correctly and sending it back then I can reassemble the engine and go for a test fire after the pipe is fitted.

Well I got a lot done today. I’m currently in a ice apocalypse here in Oklahoma so I stayed inside and got a lot done on the mini since the gasket came in finally yesterday.

Ran into yet another snag again. Getting ready to install the new vforce 3 reeds and noticed a bolt was broke off. Somebody drilled it out but clearly missed the hole !

I got the old piece out. Threaded in a stud. And then epoxied around the stud in the open areas. So we should be good now. Hopefully tomorrow I can bolt the cylinder down finally.

And those removable top bars work great for engine top end work !
