I like the tubes being removable. Make things a lot easier.

Any idea if it compromises the frame strength a lot?

They use them on drag cars and sand rails all the time. And my chassis guy said no problems also. So I wouldn’t think so. We are still gonna add some bracing still anyways due to the extra power. You know my stuff, I won’t build it and race it if it’s not safe. So it might be a little overkill in beefing before it’s done.

And I’m just waiting on my chassis guy to call me to weld it all up. I’m ready as soon as he is finally !

Very Nice!!!

What speeds are you hoping for? :D

100+mph in the 1/8 would be nice. But anything close I’d be happy also. I’m hoping for a low 7 second pass in the 1/8. But may not get there with the stock engine.

Been fighting the paint on this dumb engine. As it wasn’t wanting to budge. Didn’t want to send the stuff to somebody as some of this isn’t replaceable very easily. So today I actually found a sandblasting cabinet on sale at tractor supply for a $100. So I jumped on it.

I’ve been a few weeks now with aircraft remover in a can and 4 coats later the paint still wasn’t off. And go figure glass media and my new cabinet it was off in about 2-1/2 minutes !!!!

Need one of these a long time ago !

Almost got the bottom end media blasted finally ! These are the last pieces.

Too many crevices to polish the engine so it’s going black I guess. With polished side covers and the ends of the fins will be also.

About $300 and I can get the bottom end back together finally. I need $90 for a rod , $140 for the bearing and seal kit , and $90 for my buddies shop to split the crank and install the rod. After that it’s only a carburetor , reeds , piston , intake and hopefully the engine will start finally.

Might make it before the end of the year. But I doubt it !

Oh yeah and I got a new job starting Monday. So maybe.

Got the red off almost finally. So decided to play with one of the pieces and fully finish it. I think it’s gonna look ok ! It’s actually a pearl metallic so will look a lot better in the sunlight.

Red - media blasted - and the finished product

Got the bearings today. Ordered some shiny bolts and got the rest of the pieces all painted except one case piece. Still gotta blast it some more.

I only need the rod and the labor to split the crank and install the rod now. After that I can assemble the whole lower end again finally !
