Engine won’t run after new oil.

Yea, I'd have to put hands on it to even get started. I would probably pull the new head off and check it out. I'd go through the carburetor install and make sure it was right as well. Most importantly and to be honest if you still had the original head I would remove the stud if you haven't damaged anything other than the stud. I'd clean up the original head and use it.

And I would make sure all the gasket surfaces are clean and use new gaskets.

Lemme ask you this. When you installed the new head did you make sure the exhaust valve had the lash cap installed?

It's the little cap thing on top the valve stem that goes under the rocker.

And set the lash at .003 at TDC on the compression stroke.

Update: the guy that is working on my kart shaved the head and adjusted the valve springs and stuff. He says it’s running like a scalded dog a$$. I don’t know what he means but I think it’s a good thing. I need a throttle cable and now will only order from gopowersports. Can you give me an idea of what to use for the hole at the top right corner of the valve gasket?

Valve cover? Should be a short piece of air line with a filter on it, can't remember what size it is, maybe 1/4 or 5/16, but I think around 1/4 it's late I'll look tomorrow. Glad he got you running. Must've had a compression leak....

Hey bigwes I found out what was wrong with the startup, the valves needed to be adjusted but the main jet was missing the piece that goes before it. But now even when I touch the throttle on the engine I don’t get any acceleration. I haven’t disconnected anything regarding that. Am I missing something? All linkage seems to be in place. Any tips?

It doesn’t appear that it’s engaging the part of the carb that opens and closes when you hit the gas pedal

Ya you do need the E tube in the carb...Get one for a Gx200 will work or even a gx160.

With the pics above, Is this motor on or off? With it off itll not show any significant movement to the carb.

Edit: user error. I had the valve vacuum hos clamped down on the gas part of the carb

Ok, I've been busier than a cat in a box. What did I miss. I'm sorry but I am trying to work out a pair of new glasses with progressive lenses and they don't seem to be working out for me very well so I'm almost running blind here. Add in the sideways pics and I am double screwed.

Thankfully you have someone else in here stepping up to help you out with this as well.

It fires up every time and now the brakes are performing as they should. But it seems slower, shaved head and upgraded jet is all I done so far. I forgot to order the right air filter

What is needed to make this baby go like it should? Governor removal?
Any tips are welcomed

Do you have an app on your phone to tell you how fast you are going?

Try getting a good speed record first. Felt speed is no replacement for true measured speed. Let's go from there. We need a baseline. You may be going faster than you think, you may not.

You should expect low 30s on a good stock setup with that kart.

High 30s with mods and upgrades and into the low 40s with gearing and engine internal work. I've had mine into the mid 40s one time and I don't recommend it. The kart doesn't have enough brakes for that kind of speed. It just slides and hydroplanes with no effective stopping power.

Ok I will do a test today. I also think it needs some valve adjustments because it will shut off if I don’t immediately turn the choke off. But help me make it better. The brakes work perfect now but it’s just not as fun as it was before all this work

That isn't a valve issue. It's a fuel air adjustment. I wouldn't say it is wrong or right. I can't adjust your fuel mixture over the forums no would I try.

Some here might. If so let them go for it. I am more hands on. It's just not that simple.

What tuning are you using? Every time I crank it up it blows the tubing out of the valve breather hole. Do I need a special rubber tube?

Wtf!!!! It works now lol but I can’t wait till I show you guys the update on this thing and have a video of it running. I’m about to jump into stage two I just want to feel a little more comfortable with the valve adjustments
