Engine won’t run after new oil.

I have a predator 212cc engine and I purchased used. I went to check the oil because I wanted to do a oil change. Once I removed the dip stick old oil spewed from the dip stick hole. I drained the oil and poured new oil into it but now it won’t start.

I have added gas
Engaged the cutoff switch (btw I have a kill switch installed
Choke was on and gas was set to on

But nothing!!!!

BTW engine was running before the oil check

Any help will be fine and thank you in advance

oil spewed most likely because the carb went bad...you let gas stay in there and the ethanol ate up the float valve seat. well, just a guess from what you described anyway. check your wires and switches. make sure the carb isnt flooding, but I bet it is and most likely fouled the plug as well. you will need to clean the carb up at the least but may have to replace it depending on how bad it is.

It should never 'make' more oil....

How much oil did you add?
Maybe there's not enough oil in it to register on the low oil sensor.

On the other hand, BigWes might be right, if it came spewing out it might have gas in it. Does it smell strongly of gasoline and does it look watery?

The oil doesn’t smell like gas. When i pull start it doesn’t turn over. I must say that after a full drain I only added half a quart. I knew it shouldn’t be coming out of the dip stick hole, I don’t know what the guy was thinking

Check your kill switch or maybe disconnect it.

Do you know if you're getting spark or not? Do you know how to check?

I don’t know how to check the kill switch but I think I will have to go to autozone to get the piece to remove the spark plug. Thank you guys for the help. I’m using your info and YouTube videos to help me enjoy my new hobby

Step one is definitely to pull the plug and see if it’ll turn over. Cleaning the carb is never a bad idea.

Is there any way you can guide me through it. I’m from nyc where these were unheard of so I jumped the gun but I’m ready to take on the task of building my first beauty

Replace the plug. Ensure the carb isn't flooding. Temporarily disconnect the kill switches and low oil switches for trouble shooting purposes and see if it will fire

It's what I was getting at from the start, me and you are on the same page with this. He has to start somewhere. And from what he described and me not seeing it first hand this is the first thing I would do.

Unless the last guy overserviced that engine or left it out in the rain the only other reason that oil came spewing out is because that carb was allowing fuel into the cylinder at which point it seeped into the crankcase and overfilled it.

You and I know this. If the engine runs like this it can turn catastrophic real fast. All sorts of bad stuff can happen.

Not to mention top side lubrication being washed away by excess fuel in the cylinder.

Now he just needs to take a step back. Clean up the mess and do some proper inspection and troubleshooting and hope there's no damage.

I think if it isn't locked up it will probably be ok.

The motor is now running and next thing is to upgrade it and make it ready to ride.

Btw I also have no brakes and I believe it’s a mechanical brake judging from comparison to pictures. Any way you guys could tell me where to get the pads if I post a picture?

Now that you have it running I would advise keeping close tabs on the oil level for a while. If you notice an increase in oil level shut it down and determine why before you start it back up. I will always be suspect of an overfull crankcase and I blame this on the tree huggers and their ignorant shoveling of ethanol fuel down our throats. It's garbage.

I’m going to post pics soon as I get home lol. Yes I will start a separate thread it’s just you guys were very helpful and the spark plus was all the way black except for the top of it. Pictures coming today it’s just raining hard in Alabama but I’m sure it’s mechanical brakes

No, Yerfdog karts are a real thing, sadly. Such a horrible name, right?

There's plenty of black sparkplugs out there that still fire. Maybe it is totally trashed with carbon and oil deposits. Maybe it just gave up the ghost.
