And I wouldn't have it any other way, if anyone could suggest any 35 chain sprockets that have less than 50 teeth that'd be great

Well that's better than being known as The Gun Guy or something in this day and age of mass hysteria.

Don't know of any sprockets right off hand but this seems like the opportune moment to show us your kart collection and why you're worthy of such a grandiose moniker. Title of this thread you know...

Dude, I know you're looking for a new sprocket, but let's not make multiple threads asking the same question, OK?
Yeah, I know you're new, but just thought I'd let ya know.

I'm surprised the neighborhood doesn't hate me for driving my go kart with an open header around, the neighbors seem to love it!
Glad your neighbors feel the same.
Why do you want such a small sprocket? A teeny one will destroy your acceleration.
Mine's geared high at 5.5/1, and it sometimes has a little difficulty off the line, so if you have the standard 12T #35 chain clutch, anything less than a 60T is just about a terrible idea.

Actually that's the only kart I have, there's only space in the garage for one lol, if i get another kart it'd probably be something off road, but that depends on what I can find at yard sales and Craigslist yknow

I run it almost exclusively on long, flat, and easy neighborhood roads, and the only other place I take it is on a soft dirt path through the woods every now and then, not to mention from a standstill it spins the tire for half the speed range WOT, so I'm usually constantly on the move so ~28mph isn't as fast as I'd like, I'm looking for high 30s to really zoom and more importantly blow past the kids who drive their golf kart around ;)

I can tell you just by your picture of said kart you do not want a smaller sprocket. You will fry your clutch. Clutch gear size and axle gear will tell me for sure. And tire size.

Uhmm, you are NOT spinning the tires. Are you 100% sure or is the engine revving and the kart isn't taking off very fast?
In a very Poboy/Hellion-esque way:
I DEMAND EVIDENCE!

My kart has a torqueyer engine, and lower gearing, it's a similar size, and also 1WD, and it doesn't spin the tire unless I'm holding the gas pedal down and I hold it from taking off.

Our 415 with a 5hp Tecumseh spins off the line.

On asphalt.

B-b-b-but JTSpunkFace said that's not possible!

A friend of mine had a one-wheel drive go kart as well and it also left satisfying black marks on the pavement at will. I'm pretty sure it was a Sears Lime Limo.

It was a flathead 3.5HP Tecumesh! Good heaven's nooo!

Bahahahahahahaha!!!!

I can just see it now!

Dude, this calls for an old school rap! You throw down the beats and I'll drop the first lines. Somebody else can come in and follow up with some more old school 80s style stuff!

Call it spunkwagon's spunkity!spunk!

One wheel peels,

pulled up on the line!

Open header Briggs!

Dressed to the nines!

JTSpunkwagon grinning really proud,

Flashing gold grills, sparkling kinda loud,

But idling to his right,

is an Indian Brave,

An old Tecumseh flathead,

that will never cave,

Bthompson224 is at the wheel!

Ready for the kill!

.......

Next verse is on somebody else

Bahahahahahahaha

Ready for the kill...

Won’t be long till he’s king of the hill.

It isn’t for the glory. It isn’t for the fun.

This crazy karter will be number one.

The Girls all wave as he revs to the moon.

Next kart shootout will go down at noon.

Down at noon. Down at noon.

Ladies and gentlemen prepare for the hoon!

He might look funny, a little like a goon,

But by the race’s end he will get all the poon :D

LOLOLOL

I knew someone would pull through and follow through with another verse!!!

I can already see Princess Peach shining up the Trophy now!!!

I just really don't know who I want to win the most!

Do I want JTSpunkwagon to win? With his rough and tough noisy old Briggs?

But what about Bthompson224 and the ever surprising old warhorse Tecumseh?

And then we have the new kid on the block The Go Kart Guy!

Well, we have three karts on the line boys, and honestly I think we have room for one more kart! I haven't seen him show up in this thread yet but I know he would be a proud contender in this race! Budget Spunkmeister! Start your engine! There is always room for one more sir! I know you want your shot at the winner's circle for that trophy personally delivered by Princess Peach and a sweet kiss from her lovely lips as a winners prize as well!

The race song needs more verses!

And the race needs a winner!

I think the people should decide!!!

Anywhoo...

Don't get a smaller sprocket. 25-30 is about the best you're gonna get without burning up a clutch.

Switch to a Tav2 and your mid to high 30s goal is more achievable. A SLIGHTLY smaller sprocket would be fine then, and a Tav2 has a 10% overdrive. My small kart is about the size of yours. I weigh 200#, and I can just hit 40 on pavement if the tires are at 20 psi.

Ok, but seriously guys, he's got a gear ratio between about 4/1and 5/1 with a 212. Stock.
And the 5/1 is if he had the exotic Hilliard Extreme Duty clutch with the 10T #35 chain clutch sprocket. And in the picture I can see the typical holes in the clutch housing, meaning it's not a Hilliard.
So he's got a gear ratio of about 4/1. Significantly higher than mine.
So unless he's got super tiny or super dry rotted tires, it's not gonna spin from my experience.
So I STILL DEMAND PROOF!
BTW For some odd reason I actually like that rap....:roflol:

He said in his thread in Engines and Clutches that it's a 50T.
From the looks of it, the tires are 12-13", I'd estimate.
So with about 4.1/1, with a stock 212 on a normal yard kart, it's just too hard on the clutch to go any higher.

Incorrect.
Bthompson224's kart has the OHV Tejunkseh(nuthin' personal Bthompson224).
