On my bikes, the throttle is a lever, it has a spring and the motors have an additional spring added for positive return......

NO one wants a runaway vehicle...

I actually like a fairly heavy spring on the gas pedal. Makes it easier to feather the throttle on bumpy ground IMO. A floppy pedal is just all over the place when you (and your foot) are bouncing up and down.

:iagree: I had a pretty weak one on my kart for a bit, it returned the pedal just fine but it didn’t feel good. I put a real heavy one on, now it feels way more solid on your foot and is very consistent and predictable.

That’s a Manco/Fox type pedal.
Drill a small hole in the frame for one end of the spring and hook the other end to one of the holes in the pedal.
Doesn’t get any easier than that.

I actually don't have a pedal return spring on my kart, instead there's a governor arm return spring, and a little return spring on the remote throttle mechanism.

But I will probably eventually add a pedal return spring.

It looks like there is room on the bar toward the front to loop the correct spring over it. I regular spring will be come back near where your foot rests.

When I first ran the motor without a return spring on the motor throttle lever it had worked for a bit... but eventually it had a delay upon return.. it had also dismounted the throttle hand lever once or twice aswell... after that I use a spring on the motor, never a return failure...
