Well i've never really done a thread on my kart, and lately its been having a few problems so i figured while i was taking it apart and doing some work i'd post some pics. First off, the engine actually torqued the mounting plate enough to break the welds (not my welds), and then it belt the plate so much that the chain got extremely loose and kept falling off. Also the band brakes on it just dont lock the tires up as fast as they used to, so im planning on using a 1" bore rotor and caliper off a sled.
Little bit about the kart
Its an asuza i guess? got it a while back as a bribe to spend time with my dad, made it into a shifter kart at one point but the engine wasnt big enough. so i went back to the stock 5.5 tecumseh powersport. I also extended the frame by 1'. Its got a comet clutch, and a 6:1 ratio at the moment, but the sprocket is in tuff shape so i'll most likely just get a new smaller one and bring it down to a 5:1. Tires are 15" front and back.
Heres where i reinforced the motor mount, used some small angle iron from a bed frame and welded it in on either side.
heres the caliper off the sled, even has a pressure switch for tail lights.
Rotor, has perfect 1" bore with 1/4" keyway.
And the master cylinder, needs a little cleaning, but functional.
The tec powersport, its new, and it was free so im happy. I also have a briggs flatty that runs i might take the governor out of and use that.
