Well poboy I'm in Texas next week. Coming by to spy on your progress. I'll just say I'm county official looking into your front yard clean up.

Yah maybe I'll use nylock. Great idea on drilling through the nut. May need to mark location first and take tire off since it would be in way

Well...since I kicked him off my couch....I'm pretty sure Chancer's tent he pitched in the front yard isn't up to code....nor is the HD Homer bucket he uses for a porta potty.

Take him with ya when you go!

Franklin BBQ. Although I've never been there...he uses post oak and his briskets LOOK good. I wouldn't recommend his turkey ...he only rubs it...good turkey needs to be brined.

But he really should just hit Sonny Bryants on the way down...(provided he takes I-35W....) if he wants to detour around and take loop 820...he could hit Billys Oak Acres....about as good as it gets....I recommend ANYTHING they make...the turkey is melt in your mouth tender....as is the brisket.

BTW....I had a guy that worked for me that drove I-35W north every morning. He whined about how long it took. I gave him extra money and told the idiot to take loop 820w and just avoid downtown ....maybe an extra 15 or 20 miles....but NO sitting in traffic for a half hour!

Franklin bbq looks good. I drove past last time I was there. Line out the door. I hear they are the best in the area. I will need to make time to try it. Lunch only though.

Found this picture of Franklin BBQ. Yup long line. That's why i didn't go last time. I hear once they are out of meat they close the doors. So you could wait and not get anything!

Yeah...Billy's Oak Acres does the same thing. They open at 11:00 o'clock...and by 11:30....you're gonna have to walk a ways to get there.....JIK....they are closed on Mondays.

But....it's kinda cool....that I could actually walk there if pressed from my house. Don't get that twisted...It's not the proximity that makes me tout their prowess in making BBQ....or the fact the co-owner and I go back 30 years....it's the PRODUCT.

There are SO many BBQ joints within 2 hrs. drive....(Yes....I've tried almost all of them).....that quality is KING!

And I do quite a bit of looking around....(Hence knowing about Franklin BBQ.)

A little tougher nut to crack is seafood...especially in Louisiana....

Harder still...best Mexican restaurant in the DFW area.......or even worse...San Antonio!

Had my mom dig through some old photos. I thought I remembered having a Go Kart at my grandparents house in Mississippi.

This is Me the blonde kid and my sister in the driver seat. Looks like an old Manco Dingo? This was early 80's

okay picked up a pair of turf saver tires for the rear end. They where for a dead axle :( but only paid $15. so worst case i got tires and can pick up wheels still. But since dead axle wheels i also got 60 tooth sprocket, looks to be #35 chain size :( but i need to measure to be sure i guess? oh and brake drum if i go that route.

Taking that wheel apart and cleaning what i can in case i use some of it.

who ever welded this wheel is almost as bad as me! Not sure if i can convert these to live axle wheels? anyone got any ideas? should i just buy new wheels and use the tires?

Just for the rear. i've made my mods for the front tires. and ive got 4 of them so if the wheels in the front last and the tires got out i can replace the tires and keep the modified hf rims. at least thats my hope.

Great because i just bought a set for the rear. :)

Now i need engine plate, axle, bearings, tav, chain.

When connecting a torque converter do you need a jackshaft? or can you go from TC to axle with chain? It looks as though they make TC that mount directly to the Preditor engine and then i can go from there to the axle? Real question would be, if you have a TC do you need to still have 6:1 ratio on the gears? or can you do 5:1 4:1 etc...? I dont plan on speed so i think maybe 6:1 with TC should be more then enough.

6:1 will be fine with the 15" tall tires and a TC. I believe the TC you are talking about is called a "TAV2" that one comes with a mount directly to the engine.

Okay, hopefully i have some time this weekend to to work on the kart some more. Despite my better judgment i spent money! more then i wanted to :(

Waiting for shipment of:
Rear RIMS $19.95 x2
Engine Plate $14.95 (should of went to local metal shop, oh well )
TAV2 /w #40 10T $72.89
1" Axle Bearing Kit $36.48 ( was given $50 amazon gift card so i used it! )
Throttle cable $10.59 ( i had some left from gift card, cost me extra $3 from my account )

subtotal: $174.81 :(

plus other carp
Brings my total to: ~$250

and i still need axle, 60T and chain to buy....

Good to know how much i spend in case i sell this later. But i think i rushed into the build to fast and now im stuck with it. Could of changed some of the front end a little. Maybe its fine.

Once it's painted it will look great! as long as it doesn't fall apart ill be okay :)

Maybe in 5 years someone will come on here and ask "WHAT IS THIS?"
