And yes... She, is a lucky girl. Meet my daughter, #11. We race too. She's got a championship under her belt. So... needless to say, I generally know what I'm doing. (one can only hope eh?)

Chancer is right though, it's my own personal amusement. I'm an artist, with tools & a welder.

but as it sits.. I think it's calling for the tyrell;
although I liked the train sketch a lot, the massive amount of rubber and the lack thereof in trainwheels move that closer to the tyrell for me (at the moment )

I'll give a rundown after food & a shower... but ... and a few beers. I'm tired.

Update:

Lunchtime photo-a-shoppin time!

I'm still thinking about the Train, a.k.a... Loco.

That whole front end is gonna be up a few inches to give room for the feet & other stuff. The back, I just might make out of wood to give it just the right look.

WHY? Because it'll be a totally custom job and I doubt I'll find something that'll just fit here.

Ha... Wood, over two engines = Fire hazard.

With some luck, that back piece should cover the engines nicely and allow the left side engine to run the clutch & chain outboard of the cab, on the other side, a dual intake stack with air cleaner will most likely run out the other side... with twin exhaust stickin straight out the back. I'm thinking twin briggs flatties for simplicity.

And of course, this means I'll have to figure out what wheels go with this one. Geez.

Nobody will ever build one of these. I gave up hope on that a while back.

Trust me. It's too much work for average ANYONE nowadays. If they can't buy it in a kit, ready to go, it usually don't happen.

But yes, it's for my amusement and yes, anyone who wants to look. I'm a showoff. I know it, you know it too. Nothing to hide here. It's just fun.

Update:

Another Sunday and more work to get done here. With all the spare crap I had laying around, and the fact that I didn't want to take any of the others off the stands, I made another stand for the heck of it.

It was time to get some stuff done on Unit 51 (a.k.a. Moving Violation) The last pictures seen of her were in a basic rolling status with very little attached.

After today, only the fins are left to actually attach, that, & put the holes in the motor plate... and find a brake system.

I'd been going with the GX200's because of they way they can sit so low but something was tugging at my mind here. The motor plate is the lowest thing on this ride. It's welded to the bottom rails so it's pretty far down there... additionally, it's just a big piece of 3/8 steel so motor placement is... wherever I want it.

So I sat a flatty on it.... and I think I'm going with the old school briggs & the updraft carb treatment here. It seems to fit because this is an old clunky car, the motor might as well look the part. Pushed forward it has the right stuff for me.

Update:

Some lunchtime thinking has me wondering what, exactly, to use for the Train's front end.

Then it came to me.

Does anyone out there in this viewing audience happen to have one of these old kerosene heaters they'd measure for me?

Height of the top stack and diameter of said top stack would be helpful. Thanks to anyone that cares to help.

MONEY going to the one that has one that they'll send my way that looks just like this, or cooler.

UPdate:

Out near my work is this forgotten field of old stuff. Sitting in it, is some seed spreader with this tank of an engine on it.

The cover however... interests me. Wonder if that'd make a nifty cab for the train? A little more research is needed here. It's about the right size too. Hm...

What's really dumb is I've known about this pile of crap for 4 years.

Update:

A quick side trip to a friends place (an antique store) has me looking around for an old kerosene heater for the train's front end... and of course when you go looking for something you just don't find it.

After looking inside the place, it was out back to his "field of old rusty stuff" where what do I spy?

This baby.

I'll brag here, I nailed this one. This will work perfectly. No clue what it once was, but it'll do. It's rusty, some dents and has just the right look.

5 bucks and I was on my way home. Once there, I snapped a few pics, then went to where "loco" is sittin up against the wall for now, hung a few tires on it and held it up to see. Made it all worth the stupid trip in the first place.

When I see the owners, I'm going to ask them about the thing. If I can get it, I'll go after the whole engine then we'll go from there. No promises.
