Poboy asked for me to quote someone saying to use brake cleaner which I did.
True enough but, technically, that post doesn't
specifically say to spray the
band with brake cleaner...
Quite simply, your band is toast; you're doing the right thing by replacing it but, attempting to resurrect the old one is simply a waste of time; certain materials degrade over time, friction materials & rubber are two good examples; tell me, if you found some tyres that have been sitting out in the weather for a decade, were faded & cracked, would you even
consider putting them on a car? I know I wouldn't; same goes for brake pads...
Now, I can't pinpoint exactly where or why the animosity & hostility began in this thread but,
IT STOPS NOW! Any further animosity or hostility will result in either a ban or this thread being closed (at the very least)...
Karty, we have a motto around here:
HELP US HELP YOU...
By providing your location, which can be as vague as a city or even a state, it helps us determine the best source of parts for you; also, there have been several occasions where members help each other
personally, which would not have happened if those members hadn't posted their location; about a month ago, poboy helped a new member get his kart up & running like a clock &, just this week, supermanotorious helped a new member in the same way...
Quite simply, we're here to help; if someone asks for our help & then ignores our advice (which is based on
decades of first hand knowledge & experience), we tend to ignore them...
As a final note, I find it somewhat ridiculous that this thread is now 4 pages long when all the advice you need is on page #1...
