Ok so I finally got around to cleaning and sanding everything. It actually worked quite well! It's not stopping on a dime but at least something happens when you step hard on the brake pedal! I'm thinking the next step is to replace the band entirely and maybe the drum or whatever it's called. The band and drum seem to be about 4 inches I can't find the part number replacement as it seems at some point they change these to 6 inch bands. Where's the best place to buy the appropriate band for this brake? Thanks again very much.

Another quick question...since I can't seem to find the correct brake band, can I buy a 6" drum and band (at bmi for example) and pop it onto the axle (assuming I get a 3/4 inch)?

Just the same, we wouldn't want you paying for shipping from California if you live in Indiana, or shipping from new York if you live in Texas.

There are many online suppliers that also have actual stores in many different states.

You don't have anything to worry about, please in the least use your actual state, it will help us help you...

I'm ok shopping around and checking shipping rates etc. I'm most interested in checking out the different sites/resources etc

Outside of BMI where would be a good place to look for this 4" brake band? Beyond that, any ideas on a 6" full replacement?

Thanks again!!

The same page CrazyKart linked to above has 4" drums with a 2-7/8" bolt circle. Does your drum fit to a hub now?

I need to check. I thought it was a single piece but I could be wrong...

Just checked. It's a single unit. No bolt on

So how does it attach to the axle? Maybe this is where the magic of pictures would be enlightening.

Annnnnnddddd.....around here.....we ship each other parts for shipping cost, sometimes travel to other member's homes to fix their karts for free, and try to help as much as possible....however...if you want to be hardheaded....there is a thread here that lists ALL the suppliers....soooooo.....you can do your own legwork!!!!!

It's a little off-putting when people don't fill out a profile.....(like they don't trust us....) (a little like calling someone you've never met a cheat or a liar)....

Past experience has shown me.....those that refuse to fill out a profile location are trouble makers...(and have something to hide).

Cool. Not trying to cause waves. Just looking to order a brake band for my 9 year olds go kart and figured this would be a place to ask...

Where's the thread on the suppliers...tried to find it earlier but couldn't?

Thanks!

(My deep dark secret is that sometimes in the yard I don't thrown my helmet on... muahahahahahahahahahah!!!!!)

Hey, I am not too sure I trust you even now :D.

But seriously, it is common for people to be untrusting, especially on the internet. I do agree that a state is all that is needed though. We cannot track you down from that.....or can we.

You can also try mfgsupply or surplus centre for parts. Gokartgalaxy also has some deals
