I've done some reasearch (http://www.google.com.au/search?rlz...urceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=pocket+bike+no+power) and apparently it's quite common (google thinks so). New fuel filter, and fuel tank cleaning is the quick way out, and it gets into low compression (new rings minimum, sometimes rebore, oversized parts), new spark plugs, e.t.c.
I would suggest pulling the head, cleaning your piston with seafoam (flashlube works reasonably well for aussies, soak over a period of 12 hours, fire it up, and again until clean) or equivalent, and cleaning up exhaust valve and combustion chamber fouling. Then, apparently, crappy manufacturing can send plastic fuel tank fragments through filter into carb-it is possible, though unlikely, that your carb got clogged after cleanup and rebuild. I would also suggest trying the bike without the exhaust on. If it runs as it should, you have an obstruction in your pipe. Replace with double header and your laughing.

Thanks braden. I'll remember to check back to that post. If it's something that hard, then I'm going to try and get a refund, the guy said it works properly and runs well. If he doesn't give me a refund I'll try that kind of stuff. He hopefully will give me a refund, after all, he sold me something that doesn't work. If I get a refund, I'll be buying another one.

Not a good idea to run it wothout the pipe, as two-strokers need it for the powerband. I suppose just a quick test wouldn't hurt, though .....

As for your other problem, sounds like the clutch is definitely smoked. I'm not really sure where the parts places are over there in Australia but I can link you to a site or two from there that has a lot of info on it:
http://www.pocket-bike-racing.com.au/
http://nswminimoto.forumup.org/index.php?mforum=nswminimoto

You don't need to be a member (unless you want to sign up) - you can search there for parts places. Just check the sidebars on the site - there's some decent ones there.

Not true. The less restricted, the better.
Power increase will be noticeable. Only downside (possibly) is small loss in fuel economy and increased noise level.
Unless unavoidable, I don't use mufflers/pipes.
Pipe only used , in my case, to redirect exhaust.

I will never understand the obsession of rebuilding engines with hardly any wear on them.

Me neither. Like whats the point. Aparently if you change out your rings alot when the old ones arent even worn out yet it can actually be worse for the bore. Lol talk to Oscar. He was asking me if he should rebuild his clone yet XD.

There is another pocket bike near me that's only been used once and is $180 with a spare clutch, hydraulic brake set, and some oil. I was wondering whether to buy it, put the clutch on this bike, sell it, and then use the other one. But I feel like I could be digging myself and even bigger hole.

I have only seen 1 properly cared for engine that NEEDED a rebuild, a hor shaft briggs 8 horse on our log splitter(1970 and its probably been run for millions of hours) it still runs but eats 20-50 like Microsoft eats RAM. We are dropping in an antique briggs 23 this spring. Its a MONTER sized flathead with a solid cast iron block, AL sump and head. Points are on the side of the block, you can clean em in 5 minutes, gotta weigh at least 100lbs.

What should the clutch and housing look like? Is there any way I can tell if it is the clutch slipping FOR SURE? I read somewhere about sanding the clutch pads or something like that.

I rang up the guy and asked for a refund and he basically said that he only said it worked, he never said it worked enough to pull you along.

I wonder how much I could sell it for like it is. I'd be happy with $100 atm, even though I've spent a total of $230 on it plus oil and mixing tank. :( :( :(

yeah basically. I said that it doesn't work properly like he said it did, and asked for a refund, and he basically said there is nothing he can do, it worked fine when he had it etc.. etc..:(

****ing arsehole of a man and ****ty free trading that allows this bull****. If you do sell it, make sure the dude knows what he's getting. I would consider the other bike (test ride!) and if you can't sell this one fairly, parts bike. Or whack a B&S 5horse on it, whatever. Sorry you got jibbed dude.

Yeah I will make sure they know. I've sold things that are broken before, but whenever I do, I say several times in the eBay listing that it is broken. It would make me feel sick if I sold something and said it was working and it wasn't.

After this ordeal, I doubt I'll ever buy another pocket bike, and I doubt I'll ever trust anyone the same again. I guess I'll just stick to driving my dad's 3 honda's. We are buying another 110 acre's so that might be fun :)

why dont you get rid of the clutch and make it direct drive, if its only little you can just start it by spinning the back wheel with your hand. it would be better than selling it for nothing

If I was certain it was the clutch, I'd just buy another clutch. But if I buy a clutch, and it's not that, then I buy the next part, and it's not that, I end up spending way more then I want to. I may as well cut my $257 loss (pocket bike + oil + mixing drum + throttle cap) and go on with everything.
