Looks like the doodle devil will be complete before Murray Shoping cart.
Murray was a mean kart with the OHV but the doodle devil is getting it. Figure murray will get paint and upholstered over winter.

Over the winter I will try to get hydraulic brakes for both and maybe TC for DD

Progress made today.......

-Engine reassembled with Briggs Animal cam, governor removed, and made an air filter adapter from pvc end cap. Also I put a fuel filter on valve breather hose ( it should work).

I need to make an exhaust. I am using 3/4" tube because it fits perfectly in to exhaust flange. I will then make another flange on end of 3/4" tube that steps up to a 1.5" flare.

Opinions Needed

- Exhaust on outside frame ( pic 4 ) or under seat (pic 5 ) ??

I am undecided. Under seat also takes away the grab bar, unless I want to get burned.

After some thinking, I did decide I will run exhaust on the side. Today I will make exhaust, chain tensioner, and hopefully start or ride it today.

Go inside, but under the grab bar.... It looks like you got the room to do a custom bend on the end of the tube to make it look good and fit just right.... Drill a hole ( in a piece of 2x4) big enough for the tube to slide into. Make a bunch of small bends, next to each other, and you won't have kinks or dimples. With practice,you'd be surprised at what you can bend.....

Thanks Jim, maybe next time. I already started welding lol. I just can't wait to hear this beast fire up. Hopefully I can get some more garage time today amoungst family to do stuff.

Quick update:

I thought I seized the engine.....

But my exhaust wiggled loose and bolt fell out and got stock to fly wheel magnet that was close.

I will post video either tonight of tomorrow.

It sounded great!!!
The exhaust is a total of 24" long with a 90*bend. The first 20" is made up of the 3/4" tube that steps up to 4" long flared 1.5" tube ( the tube is an exhaust adapter from autozone )

I think the long length and the 3/4" restricts just enough to not be obnoxiously loud and the 4 inches of 1.5" give it a nice bellow.

Before I start it again I will use thread locker and make a bracket or two to support exhaust.

Shorten the pipe by about 2"...... Other than that,
Sounds BISHON! The garage isn't doing it justice..... You've done a great job there, buddy!

Appreciate it Jim. You think I should shorten it because of the shake/play. It actually, earlier did strip the 1st few threads on flange holes, that s why bolt fell in fly wheel. The bracket is just 1" x 1/8" bar and I used longer bolts and a shat load of thread locker.

Yeah, it will get rid of that shakey shakey..... LoL all the engine harmonics are being transferred to the end of that tube.....
You do know I mean shorten it between seat post and exhaust tip, right? The rest is braced, so should be cool. You could put a little rubber between the mounting locations, to absorb some shimmy.......

Jim, I value your opinion and know you are a knowledgeable guy. I have always been a problem solver and a bit of a hard head.

I really like the look of the length. I added a 2nd brace and it takes out a lot of the shimmy.

So... I will add a 3rd at the end and problem solved, well it should. If it does, which I expect it to; I might weld the braces on pipe.
