Wow, I forgot how quiet a stock setup is.
I let it run for 15 minutes on low rpms. I will do again Saturday when I have off.
The only things I will change soon is remove fuel tank ( since I already welded a side mount tank) and remove oil sensor (I guess I can just cut it off).
I haven't fit engine in the D.D. yet, but it looks like muffler might burn fender. Maybe open exhaust and intake at a later date, but governor will stay. I want a reliable bike so maybe I can attend a MiniBike reunion this summer in Pennsylvania with my family. Me and my oldest boy on the D.D. with sidecar, my daughter on hers and I will have to get the wife a MiniBike and build sidecar for my other son.

I did unplug it.

The Doodle Devil lives again. Not as loud, nor as fast.
I feel like the top speed is cut by a 1/3.
I will still be looking to get a T.C and can now get back to finishing sidecar.

Same here...
I loved it. It had crazy power and torque. I want to rebuild it with another block. The animal cam was great. Next time I will use an animal rod or billet rod.

I wonder if an animal engine has a governor

I don`t think it does. Also, I think the reason your Briggs threw a rod was because it was too lean. I`ve had that happen to a flathead Honda.

definitely replace the header, if you want to make it you can order the flange online for like $2 or I'm sure you could easliy make one too, then bend up some pipe to a custom design, slash tip or whatever, or even finish with a chrome tip, will look super, AGK has some good headers ready to ship as well

I did go ahead and made a flange,.cut old D.D. exhaust and welded it to the new flange.
I also installed the 140 emulsion tube and 0.36 main jet.

It does help with the torque and sounds much better than the restricted muffler.

But.... I feel so restricted with the governor I hate how the
governor kicks in and it surges.
I keep thinking about removing it.
Last pic is just how it looks with linkage. Can I move the spring in any which way to free up a few more rpms?

I'm pretty sure if you move the spring that's attached to the governor arm farther out, (looks like you're in the "next to last" hole), should give you a little more. Speaking about mufflers/tips etc. I took a production pit bike system/"muffler"apart, and it was like somebody described above, pipe going just inside, and the other end just inside, so the "muffler" is actually more like an echo chamber that makes more noise than a straight pipe. I made a piece of pipe to go all the way through, and drilled 4 rows of 5/16" holes in it, so the holes would let sound waves get out of the pipe without disrupting the flow. The pipe was actually a fair bit quieter, but the bike picked up 2 mph. Then I built an expansion chamber for it and picked up like 10 more mph,

Too bad you didn't document the pipe build. Sounds awesome.
I did some thing similar with my gy6 exhaust.


The bike really needs a T.C. for a smoother transition and since it is pretty torque-y I am thinking a smaller axle sprocket.

I put in some overtime at work this week and had a fat check, so... just bought these hydraulic brakes for the D.D.


Also robed the T.C. from my go kart with 7" driven and trying to mount it on bike.
