:mad2: stick with a motorcycle /atv engine. It is SO simple to do and there is no buying expensive clutches or machine work, or any of that jazz..... If not that, just stick with a hopped up 212..... It might fit your budget a little better. 9+ horses for the price of a new 212 and a couple hours of "fine tuning"...... That's usually what the low buck builds use.....

I don't want a motorcycle/atv engine I want a snowmobile engine, so does anyone know where I can get one cheap other than eBay or Craigslist

In the middle to deep South, you aren't going to find any cheap snowmobile engines. Flea Bay, CL, or a private seller over the evil net are probably your only options. And shipping will be ugly.

I can understand your determination here, once you get an idea in your head, you just can't let up; it's a bit like dropping a 350 chev into an old F100, most people would say "WHY THE HE// WOULD YOU WANT TO DO THAT?" & that's exactly why, because it shouldn't be done...

Your idea goes against every logical argument:
-a high powered engine in a small kart
-simply using a snowmobile engine in your climate? what?

Wich leads me to: Not only will you have trouble sourcing an engine, I feel you may have problems running it. Snowmobile engines are, quote obviously, meant to run in cold climates & since you live in a slightly warmer climate, you may very well have overheating problems... not that I'm trying to deter you, I just want you to think about it...

None of my snowmobile engines overheat on my kart even on hot days I would have to disagree.
Snowmobiles under hood temperatures get very hot under use even in cold temps.
Snowmobiles are heavy and in deep powder the engines get worked hard and at full rpm.
Karts have way less rolling resistance and drag than a snowmobile and the engines are subject to open air.Their are plenty of mini buggies in my location that run snowmobile engines at our sand dune recreation area all summer long and the temps around here can exceed 100 F. Both watercooled and aircooled types. I will be taking my kart out again this weekend on the lakebed and I will be running it during the day and into the night testing making adjustments and testing out a lighting system I am going to use at night and I just checked the local forecast in that area and it will be in the upper 90's during the day.I never have had a overheating problem what so ever even with my wankel engines and they run way hotter than my two stroke engines.I have drove my kart many times all day long in the hot weather without any problems at all.

Thanks Alot but I already checked on Craigslist, and I was about buy the Arctic cat but I found out it was F/A not F/C so I'm afraid it may have over heating problems

That's exactly what I was hoping for, someone with hands on experience with this type of engine to contradict my assumption; thanks for the input :thumbsup:
