What about disk brakes?
Even mechanical brakes would be a step up.

Hydraulic and mechanical brakes have a disc, but as mckutzy says below, you could probably also get away with a GOOD mechanical setup
LOL. I think this thread will stay open just for the entertainment value...and hopefully we can help someone not kill themselves
Don't forget Jim, he'll be pushing 40hp

Probably more around 38 or 36 because of the custom muffler system I'll put on
Probably more around 38 or 36
Thats close enough to 40HP to have the same effect
I'm not going to weld it, I got someone else to do it,because I can't weld, and y'all get what I mean when I want cheap brakes ,I want good brakes but I don't want to spend hundreds on themI was curious as to how your fab and welding skills are to be building a death machine like this.
Lets see pics of your previous work.
And BTW finding parts like brake setups really really cheap as you said does not work for a build with that motor.
To take that crank to a shop for machine work, man, $70 won't get you too far.... I've been a machinist for 20 years straight. Speaking from experience, it would probably be more like $100 to cut a keyway in that crank. And $150 ish to turn it down in diameter, or more.... You got to pay for set up too. That thing has to be machined using a steady rest and/or live center.
I want to work where you work. The prices you posted sound like they come from a shop that doesn't like walk-ins. Quote a high price and if they paid it, awesome, if not, I didn't want to do the work anyway. I paid $20 to have a crank turned and keyway milled in a crank I had. A friend did it at the shop he works at after hours. They are allowed to do that sort of thing.
Not that I am trying to encourage this guy.

I really don't know, It's W/T is 279lb about 35-40lb more than the bike. The track's I race are 1/8mile, And I run it in third gear. Not WARP speed but it is very quick.Nice kart what's the top speed of that kart

Yeah it should be really quick because it's a shifter kart, my go kart may top out at about 80 mph if geared right or more, I just have to get the engine first![]()

I sure hope you wear a helmet!
And can a hillard extreme clutch handle the power of this engine
