Yeah, kerosene is cool too, I just noticed that you have to work a little bit more to get it to loosen up stuff. The spray stuff usually dissolves stuff pretty quickly.

You'd be better off buying it at a store. It'd save you money.

do you think walmart will have it and how much would a store sell it for most likely?

Wally would probably have some and I don't think it should be more than $5. If you have kerosene, you should just use that though.

can i spray down my engine with the hose it's really dirty

if you plug all the holes and take the coil off the shroud and carb. we pressure washed engines in auto mechanics.

EDIT:Best if hot water is used. not all pressure washers can use hot water.

ok i washed down the engine with the hose on the flywheel. what was happening, is that there was dirt on it blocking the magnets from igniting the spark plug. i got it started now. now i want to remove the governor. can someone give me a link on how to remove a governor from a briggs and stratton engine. the governor makes the engine a 1 speed and i don't want that.

ummm its not hard just pop the side plate off and it will be like a plastic wheel just pull that out. also there is a wire that goes from it to the carb you need to unhook that but leave the piece that goes inside the block so you don't have a open hole. if you use the forum search im sure you can find some pictures.

The govener does NOT make the engine a single speed. The governer just limits the top RPM. and dont leave that governer arm in the engine. Bad things can happen. Use a bolt to plug that hole.

what about a lawnmower? it operates at a single speed. when you go from the driveway to the grass the lawnmower doesn't slow down because the governor has the engine to work harder to keep operating at that single speed

Thats because the governer is set up for WOT all the time. Grab the carb butterfly and it will idle. Meaning the motor IS capable or idling.

i drilled holes in the table i used to work on engines on and bolted them up to that. but don't take the gov off and do that with no load on it with a stock flywheel.
