Stop giving me ideas! I have enough to do and know I have a huge urge to modify my Manco!

Seriously, though, that engine would be so bad *** on that kart! Keep us updated on every step! Nice job by the way! :drool5:

Sorry if I was a bit unclear. The top end of the motor is junk, which is why I am using the bottom end as my transmission. No centrifugal clutch here.

WAIT. Rebuild that 250. Its not worth the hassle of hooking up that tranny to a briggs. Do you know how those trannys work? it would be MUCH easier to just rebuild it and you will have a SCREAMING 2 stroke cart. The 250 makes ATLEAST 15-20 hp. Please dont wreck a perfectly good engine..i would cry.

ALSO I CAN GUARANTEE YOU WOULD SMOKE OSCAR :sifone:

I have to agree with crazycart. Rebuilding the 250 would be more worth while and you'll be happier in the end. Just my 2.

It would cost me waaaayyy more than I already have invested in the Briggs. Right about now, the only thing the 250 is good for is scrap. If we can't get it unseized, my friend has another different bottom end that is in better condition. I'm only paying about a sixth as much for this as I would be paying for a 44 series Comet set up.
Besides, anyone can just throw a bike engine on their kart. I want to have the best of both worlds, and something completely different at the same time.

Heres what i say, sell the briggs on ebay or put it on a minibike or something, rebuild the 250. it would cost 150 at most. Ive rebuilt motorcycle transmissions and rigging one up to a briggs would be more work than its worth. Rebuilding these old airfooler 2 strokes is SIMPLE. Cant take more than a few hours. Much easier than doing some hackjob thing with a underpowered flathead. That 250 is in good condition on the outside, and i know there probably is some scoring etc..but thats nothing a good bore cant fix. You will really be missing out if you waste that engine on a briggs. There is NO comparison between that 250 and the briggs. The 250 is also a very proven engine and is reliable. And i understand it would be unique but honestly, it would not be worth it whatsoever. You can get motorcycle bottom ends for close to nothing. Dont wreck a engine that has total potential.

i also dont see the point in spending alot of money modifying briggs w/ animal or arc parts when you could have a 2x more powerfull engine with tranny for 2x cheaper

Wow why does everyone have to try and convince me to do something that is the total opposite of what I have been planning forever? I didn't choose this motor, I just asked someone if they had a junk bottom end and this is what they showed up with.

In the cost of modding the dirt bike motor (machining) you could have rebuilt the stronger better dirt bike motor 2 times. Its like putting parts on a Honda civic when somebody gives you a first gen camaro for $200 that just needs a rebuild.

What cost? Bolt or weld a sprocket onto the old flywheel? If I did want to rebuild it eventually it would only be a matter of getting the parts I'm missing, and removing the extra sprocket.

I like your briggs and all but having a shifter kart is just awsome. Theres nothing better than screaming through all the gears.
