not too much or else the piston wont be able to compress it. (hydro-lock?)

if it starts off the gas you throw into the spark plug hole, its probably your carb, or a vaccum leak.

try to put some in the spark plug hole to get it to run and it might catch and stay running.

That worked! :wai: Thanks so much. It started up and went for about 5-10 seconds. What's next? Cleaning the carb I assume. Take it apart and spark carb cleaner everywhere? Or is there a better method? Thanks so much for your help. I really appreciate it.

before you clean carb you may want to make sure that fuel is actualy getting to the carb. check fuel lines, fuel tap, fuel filter. Stuff like that

altho it is most likely that your carb has a blockage in it

may be the needle valve is stuck closed or your main jet is blocked

duno what kind of carb you have but yeh. clean everything. They do tend to gum up when they're left sitting for a long time

I'll post picture but the odd thing is that it was started/running just minutes before. Then the carb just gave out I guess. I didnt know it was the carb untill 2 days later though. Anyway I'll be sure to clean and post lots of pix. It works! If you want to ride for 15 seconds....

bighead boils his carbs in lemon juice. i havent tried it yet but he said it works great.

it dulls the paint on the carb body, however, if you care about that...

I took some pictures. sorry for the bad quality. Anyway. I pumped air through the fuel lines to unclog anything that might have been in there. The first line spewed gas just fine, but the second, clear one only spewed gas after I gave it a few shots of air. I thought yay this must be a good sign. maybe it was just a clogged fuel line. Well it wasn't. I put more gas through the spark plug hole and started it but again it only ran for 12 or so seconds. Also, should I be pressing what looks to be the starter bulb before I start it? And I'll get some carb cleaner maybe later today and spray everything down. Any other suggestions of things to do?

No, filled. May not get firm.

Just tried that. Didn't work... I think the main fuel jet is clogged, so I'll spray that down with carb cleaner sometime later. If worse comes to worse, I can buy a new carb apparently.
Daves discount motors sells those carbs for 5 bucks i think.
BlueThunder - Can you link me to that? Thanks,
B.

to clean out main jet you can use something like a safety pin or a thin piece of wire

carb cleaner dont always get the blockage out

i carry a pin in my hat to clear the main jet in my victas. Every so often a small piece of grass will find its way in there haha

a way to check if main jet is blocked is if you start it up and can keep it idling by pumping the primer

Ive put the carb in a vat of the "Carb-medic". How long should I let it mellow? I'm going on vacation tomorrow, so would it be OK to leave it while on vacation? Thanks for your input,
B.

Leave it as long as possible.

Plastic parts shouldnt melt because theyre exposed to gasoline anyway...

have you removed all the soft(rubber) parts?

they dont like carb cleaner

i found that out the hard way

it shouldnt need long to clean it

you only have to clear whatever the blockage is. Ie spray that stuff thru all the holes you can find until they are clear of crap
