bit of practice and your sorted! find indiscriminate peices of metal and weld them together :) thats how i learnt. zig zag and a steady hand. migs are easy to use. if your not about asthetics your already sorted.

I put a piece of plywood ontop of a self propelled push mower and moved the controls when i was 9 if that counts as a go kart...

I always wanted to do that when i was like 8, i had so many plans. I had a plan for a chainsaw powered bike too, just started it this year, im a bit slow.

Luke, you should have your dad teach you to weld for sure, its a great skill, i taught myself since my dad is pretty much useless, but i'm so glad i did, its great to be able to weld everything myself and not have to rely on other people.

Eh, Started My big cart when I was 12 or 13, Did My electric wagon when I was 12. Now I'm 16, about to finish to the go cart, I'd get it going and then be like, Hmm.. FULL SUSPENSION!, or Full drivetrain change!

But this year I built a minibike from scratch, and started a bigger motorcycle project.

AND I'm pretty sure theo is like 40 and he likes messing with us.

I'm 19, i haven't built a kart yet. but i have been messing with small engines and lawn and garden equipment for as long as i can remember.
had a love of small engines and all things mechanical from the time my dad started letting me help push the lawnmower :)

i just got an 8hp Kohler running (K-Series! yay for free stuff!! :wai: )
plus a few other small engines.
so I'm ready to build atleast one kart this summer!
... if summer ever arrives here in Michigan lol

I'm 26, and I'm still a big kid. I was designing go-karts and their drivetrain setups on paper in school when I was 10, and also did some electronics, and started soldering when I was 12.

I was living a very hard family life at the time, so I didn't get to do much with go-karts, even though I really wanted to at the time, and when I became an adult, I decided to persue that and build my 2 bike trailers, and pursue go-karts again.

I admire the intelligence and freedom you youngsters have with building your karts. I'm still only 14 at heart myself, and age is just a number anyway, I'll never grow old!

Doing DIY stuff when you are young is the best way to expand and grow your mind at a young age, which makes you more competent as an adult!

I was wondering what is the youngest member to have actually built a kart themselves? I am 16 and have just finished my first build, completed by myself!.

i built my first go kart at the age of 13
