Honestly I would not go adding the dual A arms to this lart. It is a yard kart and the material is quite thin. Find one of the 150cc frames that already has the dual A arms and upgrade that with your motor and like a Polaris gearbox and clutchs.

In other news almost got my new carb tuned. God does it accelerate a crap ton faster than the stock carb

And the belt I used at last race vs a new one (5-6 1/4 mile passes plus a couple test runs with new carb

You just may be correct....again :surrender: My original intent was to use this as a test bed for the motor. And go back to the 212. I did a small 6" jump and going back looking at frame by frame, it is squatting and twisting quite a bit. My next build is going to be from scratch, JB squared tubing bender is on order. If you look in the videos you see a red Yerf Dog frame sitting by the mower deck, And I thought about it, But that thing weighs a TON. I can design a lighter stronger frame even after a few glasses of scotch. I am thinking about modeling it after this:

I like the design....also everyone look at this for some great front end advice:

Gman, I know you have a 3100 engagement, but can that cause that bad of belt wear?
This belt has over a hour on it Hard running. Easy 50 dead git burnouts.

yes, and the fact that i run it up to 7k rpm. my belt is being grabbed right as i hit peak tq so it takes a bit more damage than the regular 1800 stall. Also just because it will still do burnouts doesn't mean it hasn't worn.

the belt in the picture above runs perfectly fine for romping around the neighborhood but at top speed i loose about 3-5mph

Just a update....Had family in town and just left the rat cart "as is" so everyone could get a ride.

I Love my daughter so much.....the comment "A little grease never hurt anyone"..(I wonder where she learned that)... This is my newest love....# 5 grand child...Lillian. She walked over sat down and "Went to work" I guess she figured if I was taking a break, she would finish tightening the chain on her brothers ATV.
More coming, the race kart I got is going "Grass drift"
The Godfrey had it's first taste of "Off Road"

Put in Red springs (drive) and Med weights. Also drilled a hole (Driven) now this thing transitions exactly at peak torque. 28K
Man what a ride, launches like a dirt bike. Still on original belt, little wear but I did notice (Top speed run) was down 4 MPH and 300rpm.
I guess the belt is getting smaller :smiley_omg:

Awesome. Those vegas engines are sweet!

So let me get this straight, thats a comet 40, the ones that are like $140 or so? Im asking cause I got projects coming everyones saying you need the giant torque converter for almost 400 because the 40s arent rated that high and here your doing just fine on a vegas and semi heavy frame. Belts are what like 25 or so? Looks like im changing some plans.

This is a "Comet" 40 series. I got it from http://www.mfgsupply.com/gomini/gominiclutch/gominiclutchtorq/gominiclutchtorq40.html
This is not a knockoff.
Keep in mind, I expect to go through belts like crap through a goose.
I also remove/clean and check less then every 5 hrs.
So far the 40 has taken a POUNDING at 27HP and 42Ft/lbs
Still on original belt. but I have lost 3-4 MPH top end. @ 3hrs
Semi heavy frame....not really, this is a 3202. 1" thin steel.
I will say I put 2 200lb men on this thing and it launched like a dirt bike:wai: but the belt took a beating.
Final word, Yes it will handle it......but not for long.
I also went to red springs and Med weights, and drilled a hole in the driven to get a higher engagement. it now engages exactly on peak Tq. 2600rpm.

Not just a Vegas, NR Racing modified Vegas.
this one in fact:
http://www.nrracing.com/product-p/eng-rac-gx460-fs-special.htm

This thing is a MONSTER. 6000 RPM with a stock appearing carb.
Thinking of going Mikuni.
NR says "Engine can produce a lot more with larger Carb!!!!"

Thank you! I haven't been around karts since I was a kid. Back then it was a clutch or direct drive. So the torque converters are new, to me. We had them but me and my friends were good if we could find quarters in the couch cushions for gas.

Im not gona be running anything that radical this year theres too many other projects to finish. A 'modified' Vegas. That's hilarious.

Now since you already have a chunk of change in that beast, I might throw the idea out there of an engine shaft extension (braced in a bearing on the end of course) and run twin torque converters. Not just to save belts but to transfer all that power. I have never seen that, or zero idea of how well it would work. It sounds plausible. You might not have room for that but its just one of the ideas floating around in my head.

---------- Post added at 08:26 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:11 AM ----------

I missed the ' test bed' post so maybe worth kicking the idea around esp if your gona build even bigger and heavier. Im thinking past whats on my bench now.

You know that engine you got sounds expensive but I think there really a good deal considering what the parts would cost plus its already correctly put together. Def the way to go. There could be a 22hp predator in my near future. Only because I could be getting it cheap as I would buy what you have if I were going to pay full price.

I figured it this way, I could buy a 420, bore it, stroke it, add parts, chance a screw up and break it. Spend more money, more time.......
Or
Let the guys a NR do what they do best. This motor showed up, bolted on and turned 6K
I am not a motor guy. I and a welder. I would rather spend my time on chassis setup then motors.
I don't think twin TC's would help. To many sync issues.
Just a note: I know there is a new TC coming to market. Designed for the big block market.
I am not saying who or when but I am hoping to help with "Field Testing" :2guns:Me thinks they call it a "780":wai:

Maybe he was being sarcastic? I personally didn't know they existed because of all the karts on the net i've seen, none of them are using it. Everyone talks about the 40's. The biggest 780 i've found as there is more than 1 size is for 23hp. I have one of the massive ones from gopowersports it cost me a pretty penny. Its rated to 18hp which is good for the project its going on. Now if I should score a bigger engine id look at the 780. My recent kart purchase came with a gx390 that had one of the smaller 8hp rated ones on it and a bucket that had like 5 used belts in it. I was thinking you saving these for a rainy day?
