New to this forum. I normally build rat rods and muscle cars, but got side-tracked into a project for my grandkids.
I've installed a 420 CC motor on a spiderbox. I found this engine at a swap meet, ran OK, but fuel leaking out the bottom of card, didn't have the cut off solenoid.

Then I've found that although the motor is badged as a Briggs & Stratton, it's more likely a Predator. No Briggs serial numbers or model numbers anywhere. (Looks like a 25T232 series motor.) Only a serial number and "Style II" etched into the base of the crankcase casting. Local Briggs rep and their authorized service center say it's not a Briggs. I wanted to install a starter, but they can't help because no model number available. Needs a flywheel, starter, and solenoid, so I need to know if this is a predator or is it the Honda version?

Second thing, I need some help with the wiring. Has two orange wires off the new solenoid that I installed, from the bottom of the Ruxing carb, needs DC voltage to let fuel in. Then three other wires, two black with female blade connectors and a smaller gauge black with a female plug connector. No control box on the engine. What are the three black wires? I'm thinking charge line, ground, and kill wire? Another post I've read says the two heavier wires are charge lines, one AC, 1 DC.

Yup, Predator 420.
:welcome2:

I don't agree that it's a Predator. More pics would be great but there's also a 'bar and diamond' logo on the valve cover. That's a Briggs and Stratton symbol. Still not conclusive either way. I wouldn't necessarily trust a "local Briggs rep" because, ding ding, there's a lot of Briggs engines manufactured in China these days and they are essentially rebadged clones.

I hate to sound like a mini-moderator but you're posting in the Introductions forum which is meant for hellos and welcomes, not tech questions. You'd be better served (and seen) in Go Kart Discussion or Engines & Clutches. :p

Oh!
I usually don't bother to open pics when I use this Android phone. But yes, that does certainly appear to be a Briggs.

Briggs rebranded chinese clone, I have a 208cc Briggs branded clone so I think it’s fairly common
